Nothing to be embarrassed about i want to display and play with my mattels, so im wondering if you guys think the playability of elites makes a huge difference, i mean is it worth collecting elites or basics as i dont think i have the money for both

I collect from both lines. If they release someone I like in either line I'll get them. They are in scale with one another and fit nicely together on the shelves. As far as the POA's go it doesn't matter to me as I display my figures in basic vanilla stances. (They take up less room that way)

Yes! Elites make a huge huge HUGE difference in playability. With Elites, you can pose your superstars in better positions using the leg articulation and ab crunch. You can also stand them on the second rope to get ready to drop elbows or pose off to the crowed on entrances. With basics, you can't even stand them on the second turnbuckle because they fall right off. You don't get any leg or knee articulation from basics so it looks real cheap when doing headlocks or arm bars on the ground, or submissions. Its really hard to even pick a basic figure up for a body slam with out getting the figures arm stuck between his legs doing so. Always go for elites in both displaying and playability. If your a true WWE fan and money is no object, elites are where its at.

I collect both, but as far as playability goes, I say elites are definitely better for poses and executing wrestling moves as the basics are very stiff.

As far as playing goes yes you can do more with Elites because they have 11 more POA's than a Basic figure. (Mainly in the lower body) Elites also have an ab crunch, ball jointed hips, upper thigh cuts, double knees and ankles with pivots and a wider range of mothion (For holding better poses) But because of all the extra POA's on Elites I think Basics look much better. I find any Elite figure wearing trunks looks like they have a reverse wedgie.

Depends on your imagination. Basics are better-articulated than LJNs (obviously), Hasbros, Jakks RA, Jakks TTL etc so if you could play with those, basic Mattel figures will be fine. Although the legs are almost always really close together.
If you want to only collect one or the other, go for elites. The downside is less choice, because not every wrestler gets an elite and not too many get multiple elites.

I have both but the playability of the Elites is much better.
Especially in the leg area. If you wanna do a move like the Sharpshooter on a basic figure...forget it.
