No this is not a thread to say WWE should have a TV title, They have enough titles already that they dont care about. But what i was wondering why WWE never made a TV title seeing how they have tv shows to showcase it have it defended. They had and have plenty of guys who could hold it and get it over. Just something i was curious about.

Probably because it wasn't a Vince idea though he did adopt the US title but that wasn't till after he owned it

I honestly think a good, solid, weekly TV Title match would make 3-hour RAW way more interesting.

Why did they invent the European championship? I never really understood that one.

A TV Title today? Why? So it can have 0 prestige, like the IC and US titles that aren't even really used? Okay. Though in fairness, Miz and Antonio lately have brought a little bit of meaning back...

Cesaro: Fueding with Santino, the walking joke. Miz: loses pretty much every non title match he's in. No meaning has been brought back

I honestly think a good, solid, weekly TV Title match would make 3-hour RAW way more interesting. But that would majorly cut into their recap time.

I honestly think a good, solid, weekly TV Title match would make 3-hour RAW way more interesting. False. Raw has "good, solid matches" every week, as does Smackdown. And they don't make the show interesting. They're boring and they mean nothing, because so few of the roster are "over" or have characters. If midcard title matches on TV were the answer, making a new belt wouldn't achieve anything anyway... Cesaro and/or Miz could defend their titles against Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, Swagger, Cody, Sin Cara, Rey etc etc every week. But nobody would really give two turds because they'd just be matches that exist solely to fill TV time rather than develop any characters or stories.

The IC and US Titles are treated as so unimportant, and even the World Heavyweight Championship has lost most of its prestige over the last few years.
People who want more titles are missing the point. Back in the day, the WRESTLERS made these titles important. You don't just slap a title on a guy and expect that to make him seem important. A poor Champion can devalue a Title, but a prestigious Title can NOT make a bad wrestler seem important.

I would find solid matches for a TV Title interesting. 2. I like wrestling in my weekly wrestling show. 3. They've got a better chance to develop rivalries and characters through solid matches each week than they have by having 5 squash matches per episode.

Why did they invent the European championship? I never really understood that one. To get Davey Boy over and give him a title to defend when they were in Europe.

I thought the IC title was starting to pick up again when Cody, Show, Christian, Miz, and Rey were feuding for it (Upper mid carders and Former World Champions) but having Miz losing every non title match is souring it.

Give the IC back to Cody.

From what has been written in a few books (Foley's first namely), the point behind the European Championship was mainly because in 1996-1998 (pre Mania 14), WWF house shows in the US were drawing horribly compared to shows in Europe.

Sure, I'd be in favor of them having a tertiary title for the lowcarders.
