On a side note if this had been Del Rio, or Orton etc this would be a lot different. People would want their heads. Would I want Cena's head if this was him instead of Punk?

Perhaps the incident called for this response from Punk: I was there

Hahaha, reminded me of this story. I apologize for the horrible way it's typed but it's the only source who's link was still active:
"Punk & Cabana had just lost to Rave & Fast Eddie & Cabana was brawling with someone & ended up in the back & didn't show up again leaving Punk at the mercy of the Embassy. With Punk on the floor being held down he pulled out a cheese grater saying how they were going to carve out every one of Punk's tattoos. When they were done "carving" out the sXe tattoo over his belly welly the officials JOGGED out to stop these menaces.
While the officials were huddled around Punk the fan in question (who Punk grabbed the mic to specifically yell at him at the last NJ show) & the guy yelled out, "IS THERE ANY BLOOD?!" And some people yelled back, "NO!" So he replied back with a "WELL THEN WHO THE F##K CARES!" At that time Punk was still selling the stomach (with no blood as mention (weird!)), but while he was getting up it was clearly visibal by his facial expressions that he was un-too-happy. And when he made it to his feet he just stopped selling the stomach & jumped the rail & jumped the fan as well.
They were both pulled apart & the guy was escorted out by security with the fans chanting "a$$hole" until he was gone. Punk stomped his way back to the locker room picking up a chair & tossing it across the entrance way curtain."
I was there that night on the opposite side of the Rexplex and we couldn't see what was happening, but we knew it was bad.
In both this scenario and the current one, it's just cases of fans being d-bags and trying too hard to make themselves part of the show.

This is reaching (or has surpassed) Tie-gate 2010, and 2-21-11 proportions.

I said in the other thread,I believe many people would do what Punk did in this situation, just that Punk was understandably mistaken on who who retaliated to.

CM Punk attacked an innocent man. Anyone defending Punk is an utter idiot.

After all the actual shots he took, that was his last straw, and I don't think anyone should blame him. Shame it was on someone who may not have intentionally hit him.
The fact that some many of the fans were being violent with him was ridiculous though. Those people really should have known better.

It's clear as day that the guy behind Punk put on his glasses so he could touch Punk's head. Punk's reaction is a little far, but he acted in the heat in the moment and if I was in his position I probably would have done the same. I don't blame anyone besides the fan. They should let the wrestlers do their thing and not harass them while they're in the crowd. Besides, why would anyone want to touch a wrestler after they've just wrestled?

Look at the video again. Punk's head flinches because the guy to the left of him slaps his head. This is at the same time the other guy puts his sunglasses on, it's just a bad coincidence and clever from the guy who slaps Punk in the white shirt. There's a video on YouTube that clearly highlights it. Sunglasses Guy didn't touch him.

CM Punk was an innocent man being attacked. But let's completely forget that Two wrongs don't make a right. I don't get your logic though... You hate on Punk for attacking an innocent man but no comment about the fans attacking Punk who was also innocent? Surely it works both ways?

Surely it works both ways? No one is trying to condone the actions of the fans, you are trying to justify Punk's actions, no one is trying to justify the actions of those two or three stupid fans. Both the fans who hit or pushed Punk and Punk himself surely can't be defended, they hit innocent people.

The fans who attacked Punk were wrong, clearly. They shouldn't have done what they did. But no one is condoning them for doing something wrong. Punk was wrong, yet people are saying it was okay for him to do it. It's not quite the same, but I understand where he's coming from. If Punk had felt it necessary to hit whoever hit him, then fair enough. Hitting an innocent fan is unacceptable no matter what spin you put on it.
