I've lurked around this site for a while now, and only recently decided to start posting.
I have a random question:
Why do people hate the snow boots so much, yet say nothing about Sting's attire? All of them have the painted on padding with no molding, or,at best, a knee pad that has the painted on padding.
Every Impact Figure complaint I've seen has someone griping about snow boots. Yet, I can't find one thread or reply where one person--aside from me now--complaining about the detail on Sting's wrestling attire. Each one is just plain painting where the padding would go, or a knee pad.
Why are there no criticisms of that?

Sadly, it's what people expect from Jakks nowadays. Folks realize Jakks isn't going to go out of their way to make unique (costly) molds anymore and attempt any scaling.
You know what I just realized... the snow boot only covers half the calf which means they need less paint to detail it unlike the kickpad mold which is longer and requires more paint. They use snow boots as a cost-cutting measure; it's not just a lack of care when selecting parts.
Maybe...

That's irrelevant considering several AJ's, Stings, Alex Shelley and Scott Steiner still have the upper part of their calf's painted their tight's colour. I just think it's lazy on jakks part, and I can't understand their reasoning behind this. Those figures don't bother me so much, it's ones like Hernandez, Jay Lethal, 1 or 2 RVD's... that have the short kicker molds when their protos show otherwise. The later RVD's even have the longer molds but jakks still doesn't use them as much as they should.

I've never thought about it. Doesn't bother me. Did Sting even wear long kicks like RVD?

Because that's what Sting wears when he tucks his tights into his boots.

I don't think the OP was complaining about the snow boots on Sting, but that Sting has no unique molding for his padding on his tights and how no one else brings that up very much compared to the snow boots issue on other figures.
I will say this: The tall kickers mold exists and is used on the proto pics of these figures. Use them when you're supposed to. The best AJ Styles is the DI1 figure that has them. If the mold didn't exist, that'd be one thing but it does. One RVD out of all the ones released is accurate, the others aren't, and that's just dumb.

I never complain about the Snow boots on Deluxe Sting-they are the best choice.I despise their repeated use opf them with RVD and Styles though when tall kickers are clearly the way top go. worst of all was Scott Steiner though......they butchered that figure the cheap ers.

"snow boots" is probably the most annoying cliche term this message board has created for it's own lingo, second only to Chumlees. They're kick pads. I've owned a lot of snow boots in my life, and I've never owned a pair that had a guard over the laces.. Because there's no reason to HAVE a guard over the laces in snow boots, because no one is ever getting kicked with snow boots. They're simply short kick pads. Jakks may have over used them, but that doesn't make them "snow boots", or mean it's a term that should be used almost daily around here..

My thoughts exactly for the last 3-4 years on here. +1 For you my friend. The other idiom someone created on here that I hate is the term "balloon head/arms" Since when do the heads or arms look like balloons? Just say oversized, not balloon, makes me think of inflatable heads.

HE WASN'T COMPLAINING ABOUT STINGS BOOTS! WHY DOES NOBODY SEEM TO UNDERSTAND THAT. I'M GOING BACK TO THE MATTEL BOARDS SINCE THE JAKKS BOARDS ARE OBVIOUSLY DEAD.

Anyways to answer your question unlike most of the other posts, people don't complain because Jakks already said they're not going to create new parts IE. textured pads on the legs. Also considering they wouldn't be able to use this mold on anybody besides Sting this makes it even more unlikely. Pertaining to the short/long kick-pad discussion, Jakks has both of these parts already made and they just choose not to use them but for some reason they're fine displaying them on the prototype figures and not the actual product.

This. I'm not commenting about Sting's use of snowboots. I'm commenting on how this board, and all collectors in general, get upset about the use of snowboots on RVD, AJ Styles, etc., but never ever comment about how Sting's singlet doesn't have any moldings on it.

Because the Deluxe "Snow boots" work for Sting as they are most like his real boots, but they are totally wrong for Chris Benoit, RVD, Styles & Scott Steiner to name a few wrestlers who they gave them to.
As for Sting's singlet, they don't have the parts (padded ribbed thigh & knees) and they aren't going to make unique ones for Sting...if that was the case we'd have had scale with Jakks from day one. So all you can hope for is that they are going to give you the best parts that they have available. And with the snow boots on the other guys they do have better options, but fail to use them.

For clarity purposes, I'm a collector of Sting figs. I have no problem with the boots on Sting. I have a problem with the painted on padding.
I just found it funny that we devote comments after comments about snow boots on AJ, on RVD, etc. etc., but we just accept the fact that Jakks isn't going to give us a new mold for Sting.
I think, PJ, has the right answer in this. We accept the fact that Jakks won't build us a new mold, but get mad with the use of snowboots since we all know Jakks has "better" boots for figures to use.
I however would argue that with a Sting figure being in nearly every set, the costs of producing a mold specific for him wouldn't hurt the company in costs any more than taking forever to produce the figures in the first place.

Because that's what Sting wears when he tucks his tights into his boots. I wish he would tuck his tights into his boots more often. For some reason it bothers me when he leaves them out. Looks like Disco Inferno. Lololol
