Just wanting to get to know my fellow collectors a little more....
Are you an "Elites" only collector?
MOC collector?
Are you a completist?
What exceptions to your "rules" do you have?
Any current "projects" you're working on?
For me:
I was a diehard Jakks CS MOC Collector, but I had to move from Orlando to San Diego 3 years ago for work and was losing interest in the line so I sold almost all (like 200+ before I moved and kept a few pieces) my collection save a few Hogans and Warriors. Fast forward to August 2012, the fig bug bit me with all these great releases and I started quickly building my new collection but this time LOOSE! Never again will I have to sell off my collection due to a move and displaying them and looking at the detail is very fulfilling! When friends come over its not embarrassing, but rewarding to share stories and I don't have to freak out if they want to touch one (no more don't damage the box!)!
I mainly collect Elites, but I'm trying to stick to a "one fig per superstar" rule, selling off as I get a new updated version of a given superstar. My exception would be Flashbacks and my Zack Ryder collection. I do buy the occasional basic if there is no elite available, but off to trade it goes when a newer/better version hits the market.
As for projects, I'm almost done collecting any/and everybody who was part of the Nexus (original and new) with either painted on or separate armbands. Stoked that I got my Sheffield before Rybackmania hit the 'Bay.
Also, I'm looking to get a decent priced Drew to complete the 3MB!
I like not having the pressure to get EVERY fig from every set, so when I eventually post my collection you guys will know my collection is well thought out. I especially appreciate great gear paint jobs (ie. E17 Kofi). I want my collection to be very colorful!
Thanks for reading and please share your thoughts!

I buy just the guys i like, i don't care if they are elite or basic, jakks or mattel. I mainly collect classics, because i start to watch wrestling in the 80's. As for project i would like to make some customs like gorgeous george and giant baba

I don't have any "UNBREAKABLE" rules, but I do try to look @ a few things before I lay down the money Mattel asks for these days.
1)Likeness- The figure has to be a good likeness. If somebody(a wrestling fan) sees my collection, I don't want to have to tell them who is who. With reasonable exceptions, such as they are too young to know the star.
2)Accuracy- I am big on tattoo accuracy. I will buy a new figure to replace an old one if they release one with more current tattoos (i.e. CM Punk). This often goes for facial hair and complete outfit changes. I do not feel a need to pick up every single color scheme a figure is released in(i.e. Cena, Mysterio, Kingston).
Other than those two things, I just get the figures that appeal to me. I buy mainly Elite's, but will get a basic if it just floors me. Although none have, as of yet.

I lived by 2 rules:
1- Never buy figures online. With the mark up pricing from websites, then with the price of shipping, I'd be paying the pricefor almost 2 figures instead of 1. Besides, what's the fun in getting it at the click of a mouse & missing the rush of walking into the isle & being surprised?
2- Only collect 1 figure of each wrestler. My goal was to get the first release of a wrestler. For example, I have 1 Brock Lesnar figure (KOTR 2002: his first figure.) Some people collect every CM Punk or Mysterio, which is fine. But I don't hardly see enough change to need more than one, when I can be getting others. If I was still collecting, the only way I'd change this is to switch from Jakks to Mattel.

My rule is DIVAS only... I've NEVER bought a male figure on its own.

I am only an Elite Collector. I only bought a few basics ONLY for headscans, tattoos and elbow/knee pads. I gave the left overs of the basics to my little cousin. I'm also a Loose Collector because I play with my figures.
I'm trying to collect at least one of every Elite of a person made to complete the roster for my figure fed. I don't collect legends. As soon as I finally catch up to having all the latest series of Elites, I would love to go back and try to collect every single Elite that was made.
Rules: ELITES ONLY!

I did make it a personal goal to get all of the Legends figures that were available @ retail. A goal which, thanks to a very good friend, I recently achieved. I like the classic figures since i have been watching since the mid 80's. It's really hard to resist buying sll of them since Mattel is doing such a super job right now. I have no plans for customs as I think I would end up destroying figures since I don't know the proper way to take them apart.

I am a loose collector for the most part and I only stick to Elites. Even though I am 30 my firends and I still like to have matches with my figs, and Elites pull off the best moves.
The only basics I buy are Divas, and "First in Line" figures although I keep the FIL figures MOC. I will buy a basic if it has a more up to date or better headscan to swap with my current Elite. This works out perfectly for me since my daughter gets a new Basic figure out of the deal.
I too am a "1 fig for each Superstar" kinda guy, unless if said superstar makes a drastic change to their appearance. i.e. Undertaker shaving his head. Should I decide to update some figures I will sell off the older ones. I don't mind having multiples of the same guy if they are representing different periods in thier career. i.e. Debut Taker, Attitude Era Taker, Current Taker.
I do find myself owning multiples of Triple H, CM Punk, Macho Man, and Ultimate Warrior since they are my favorite wrestlers.
I do keep some figures MOC. When they still had 1/1000 figures I would buy those. I did buy the CM Punk/Macho 2 pk to keep MOC out of impulse since I am a fan of both.

I'm a loose collector, but that's not a "rule" but more of my personal collecting preference. The only rules I have are...
1. Only buy the people I like. If I don't find them entertaining in the ring then I don't need them on my shelf.
2. Everything is from mass retail unless it's an IE (which I'll get from who's site it's from) or a figure I really can't wait for...then I preorder it from RSC. Other than that there's no secondary market purchases. If I don't find it at retail...I just don't get it.

Me again. One more rule of mine. I don't leave any of my figs in their package. They are collectibles, true, but they are, first and foremost, toys. Leaving a toy in the package defeats the purpose of the toy. In my opinion, that is. I get more enjoyment out of posing and seeing my figures displayed standing together than I would by looking @ them hanging in boxes on the wall or sitting in boxes on a shelf. If anybody else agrees with me on this, please say so.

My rules: -Everything stays MOC -I buy every elite type figure released including all figure/package variants and exclusives. -Basics I buy every first in the line and every diva and any legend (for example macho/punk two pack) -All mail away exclusives. -One rumbler of every wrestler, will buy more than one of a wrestler if their look is a drastic update. My rumblers are all loose though. -Every build a type item.

My only rule is to not pay outrageous prices. I refuse to pay double retail price, plus a ridiculous shipping cost, just to get a figure early.
