Well, after collecting EVERY single Elite style figure all the way up to Elite 13, I decided I was spending too much time and money on collecting and so I sold them all off and used my money on other things. I also got tired of never finding anything in stores and having to order everything for twice the price online. Regardless, after several months of not collecting now, I recently caved in and preordered the new Elite 19 HBK since that was my most wanted figure since the start of my collecting days. Now, I can't just spend $35 on one figure and that be enough, but I also CANT get back the collection I once had due to the sudden inflation of all the prices of old figures. So, I needed to limit myself big time this time around.
What figures would I start collecting again? I didnt want to re-buy all the other figures I had; hell, I even owned some wrestlers I had never even watched perform in my life! Superstars like the Von Erichs, Hillbilly Jim, Kamala....and several others, shouldn't have even had a place in my collection to begin with. So, I decided: I should just collect the era that I enjoyed the most and actually watched when I was younger: The Attitude/Monday Night Wars Era!
Now, I preordered E19 HBK and had to re-buy the DM 5 Bret Hart to go along with him. You cant have a HBK fig without a Bret Hart to fued with! And so it has begun yet again. So I made a little checklist here on who to re-buy to start up a good Attitude Era collection. I only want the key players, and only one version of each, so I decided on which attires I like the best. Is there anyone Im missing? (NOTE: Im only collecting the key players, so I left out names like British Bulldog and Brian Pillman since I did not consider them very big names during the Monday Night Wars era)
ATTITUDE ERA: Stone Cold (L1 or RSC) The Rock (L3 or DM 2) Shawn Michaels (E19) (BOUGHT) Bret Hart (DM 5) (BOUGHT) Triple H (DM 2) Mankind (E17) Undertaker (SDCC) Kane (E12) Diesel (E16) Yokozuna (E15) Edge (E13) Christian (E20) Chris Jericho (E20) (its not his accurate attire but I love this version) Vader (L3)
MONDAY NIGHT WARS (WCW) nWo Kevin Nash (E16) nWo Macho Man (RSC) DDP (Mattycollector)
Im open to hearing any suggestions on who else I might include. Also note that I dont collect Basics at all, just elite style. Thanks guys, its great to be back!!!

I was considering it, I just didn't see them matching up well with the other huge names in the collection. But when you think about it, they were crucial to the Hart Foundation....so I may just add them for that atleast. Thanks for your suggestion!

If you're concerned about money, the Survivor Series '96 Undertaker with the bat wings is a nice figure, and cheaper than the SDCC Ministry figure. Otherwise, I'd say your list is pretty comprehensive! I collect only figures from that same era as well, aside from Bret Hart (who I collect any figures of) and a few alternate attires/etc. The Flashbacks are great.
And while we're at it, Legends 6 Eddie Guerrero would be good. I know technically that's from more the 2002 Pre-PG era, but he was around for the end of the Attitude Era with the Radicalz, and the attire would have been similar.

I would trade E20 Jericho for DM Jericho, in debut attire, a highlight of the Attitude Era.

I think the RSC Exclusive Kane would be a more accurate representation for the time period than any of the other elite Kane figures. Not 100% to the time period, but a heck of a lot closer. During the Monday Night Wars, Kane had not been unmasked yet. Other than that, I think you got a pretty good list there. Gonna be expensive though. Oh, & with that in mind, The RSC Kane is less than the Kane you have on your list.

That is word for word my story. Too expensive, hard time finding them and needed money for other things. I was in the same boat and sold off pretty much everything. Then E19 Hbk was announced! Really wasn't sure if I wanted to go through it again but I decided to and havent regretted it. This time I'm only get guys I really like. When I was first collecting I was pretty much buying everyone, now I'm only getting older guys I liked watching like Macho man and sticking mainly to the attitude era guys. What really was eating a hole in my pocket was customs and fix ups. That I'm trying to stay away from.
I would add the road warriors to your list. While they aren't the LOD they played a big part in the attitude era.

I would add Bulldog and Pillman to the collection. You can probably find both of those at Big Lots for $9 each right now too.

Perfect for the Attitude era, 1997-1999 was when he wore the all red masked attire.

I just really like that version of Jericho from E20. Never really was a fan of the half-mask Kane either.

He said he was only after Elites though, otherwise I agree that RRH Goldust is the best one. As I mentioned above, Legends Eddie is late into the Attitude Era, and maybe the Elite Booker T could fit in too? What's your cut-off date, like 1996-2000?

I am guessing you are younger than I am based on what you like. My problem is that I was a child of Hulkamania, and my father saw to it to educate me on wrestling prior to the gimmicky era of the 80's. Also the Attitude era is important to me since is was WWE/WCW that made my high school years suck less. As you can imagine I want at least 1 Elite of everyone Mattel can possible make. From Buddy Rogers to CM Punk if such a thing were to happen.
I say spring for the SDCC Undertaker from RSC while it is still on sale. They also got Mail-away Vince McMahon. Granted he is pricey, and not accurate to the Era your looking for but his look didn't change that much and for a mail away the price is reasonable. Besides, your SCSA figure needs to terrorize someone. I am sure with WWE 13 on it's way we will see more Attitude Era guys.
