I'm taking one of those days to dig through the boxes of figures that I don't have on display and I'm having a blast! It's fun to reminisce about how hard some of them were to find, and how fun it was to hunt and how satisfying it was to find some of them.
And then there's the ones that make me say, "I spent money on that. I really spent money on that." (cough, *Basic 6 Miz* cough)
I got to thinking about how hard some of them were to find, but then also how some of them weren't. And the ones that aren't in my boxes because they peg-warmed so hard that I was tired of them.
I'd be curious to hear about some of the notorious peg-warmers in past years from other parts of the country.
Here's what used to bug me:
Wrestlemania Heritage 2, the one with the Wal-Mart exclusive poster. Largely boring repaint set that kept Wal-Mart from having any new basics for the better part of last year.
Basic 6 Ted Dibiase. I can still find 2 at secondary outlets.
Any Sheamus after Basic 7, the biggest offender being TLC Sheamus, but before Extreme Rules Sheamus. Extreme Rules broke the curse. Hell, Global Superstars Sheamus has been only a little less difficult to find than Tatsu in that set.
BO2010 John Morrison was easily available until well into the summer this year.
Basic 13, although this is due largely to several Wal-Marts within driving distance getting Endcaps full of these. My nearest WM still has about 25-30 left.
Basic 15 John Cena
Anytime a Signature Series comes out
Basic 11 Big Show
Elite 4 Finlay
Elite 5 Jack Swagger
Basic 9 Jack Swagger and Evan Bourne
Elite 11 Wade Barrett. I can still get from 5-10 of these within an hours drive.
That's about all I can think of right now. What have some of the worst shelf-warmers been for you during your collecting?

E11 Barrett is the absolute worst ever. There are no less than 20 at a Walmart near me and they've been there for a year.

I don't know how far a district stretches for Wal-Mart, or how many stores are serviced by the same warehouse, but for Christmas time last year several stores in my area did the customary Wal-Mart thing and put out dozens of Elite cases of wave 11. Every time they dwindled down Barrett was the one left over. This year every WallyWorld I've been to so far has many many cases of Elite 17. So early prediction that E17 Sheamus will be next years E11 Wade Barrett.

Elimination Chamber Chris Jericho is the one that sticks out in my mind. There are still 3 of them on the shelf at a local K-mart.

Too many leftover E5 stopped restocking at my store while other Targets in my area were getting new waves. My Target went from E5 to BOF 2011 then E12.

well I know the figures I'm talking about weren't mattell figures, but I remember the Jakks Dr. Death Steve Williams figures, there were always about 10 at every store just sitting there, same with the Jakks Jacqueline figure too, nobody ever bought those, lol.

Where I live the Wal-Marts in the area haven't had a lot of trouble w/ elite peg-warmers since E3 & E4. Those two sets hung around for awhile. @ least part of them did. E3 Miz was on the shelves forever. E3 Michaels hung around for a good bit too. E$ had Big Show, John Morrison & Chris Jericho as warmers. Haven't had too much of a problem w/ it since then, they just didn't seem to get anything new for the longest time. In hind-sight, I really wish I'd picked up Jericho when he was warming.

Those were before my collecting days, but I have heard of the flood of those figs. For the ECW line, I remember seeing a ton of Tommy Dreamers on clearance. As far as Mattel goes, every double packed Elite figure seems to eventually warm pegs. I wish they would come up with some better revision cases that would address that problem (and making the Rock 3 per case is not a step in the right direction!)

Haha, oh man, I thought of those two the second I read this thread title. Those figures set the standard for pegwarmers, wrestling figures or non. Not Mattel either, but I can remember the Hasbro Rockers hanging around for years. I bought quite a few sets of them for a little over a dollar when Hills went under, which was well into the Jakks BCA days.
