I love JBL's commentary as i find him the funniest and most informative but the 1 thing that gets on my nerves is how he calls Smackdown the A show like every episode. Is he being told to say this or is he just trying to promote Smackdown a bit more? Also what has everyone thought of his commentary since he came back?

Hes always called Smackdown the A show, good on him for promoting it that much more. Only thing I dislike about his commentary is every time Sheamus is in the ring, he constantly repeats 'Sheamus loves a fight, he grew up on the streets of Ireland!' or along those lines. I get that they're trying to push Sheamus as a bad ass character but it does get annoying after a while. Everything else he says is gold though.

Matt Striker/Todd Grisham > JBL. He grew on me back in the day, but I honestly hate commentating these days. Thanks to the bullcrap Michael Cole spews, I've learned to just ignore it completely.

I didn't really like him back in the day. (Mostly because I was little, and kids don't usually like that kind of character) But now, he has grown on me. I like him better when he is commentating with Michael Cole than with him commentating with Josh Matthews though.

JBL takes the time to tell us why everyone in the ring is worth our time. No one else in the company does that. For that reason, he gets my vote of approval.

JBL is the only one that gives me a few chuckles when hes on commentary. Kinda like Jerry Lawler used to back in the day. The whole commentary these days is terrible. Where are they going with Cole and Lawler because it seems Cole has become a face again also.

JBL on commentary both back in past and presently remind me of Jesse Ventura on commentary. I truly wish he stays full-time as he is the only commentator I can take seriously.

I really enjoyed him at NOC but haven't heard his commentary recently.

I love how he refers to the promotions that Del Rio, Sin Cara, Tensai and others competed in by their actual names, not just Japan and and Mexico. Former AAA/CMLL Champion, One of New Japan's best, held two of the tag team titles over there. The Caras family, Barrett's past, Regal's history. He is one of the best they've had since JR left full time and Striker was taken off.

My favorite memories of JBL during his prime were on Smackdown...
So yeah, I can see why he holds that show dear. : )

Honestly him and JR are the only commentators that put everybody over no matter if they're face or heel, so they are both welcome at anytime in my book.

"This looks like coming off turn two at Daytona" - My favorite JBL line and uses it quite often if you listen carefully

"Oh I hope he gets drafted to Ohio Valley." - JBL during the draft. This line had me in stitches!

And why wouldn't he try & promote the show? What a weird non-issue to get annoyed over. Would you rather he came out each week & said how SmackDown is the inferior show? A lot of the time, SmackDown IS & HAS been the A show.
I've enjoyed his commentary thoroughly since he's been back. He knows his stuff, he brings up useful & relevant facts and he does his best to get whoever's in the ring over & adds an enthusiastic atmosephere to the matches. First night back & he made the Divas match at NOC seem like a big time fight. If Lawler was there he'd just be drooling & acting all giddy at how great the ladies look.

JBL is a great commentator as he always states facts and using his experience to call the moves.

I know everyone on here gushes over JBL's commentary, but I'm not a huge fan. He repeats himself constantly.

A lot of the time, SmackDown IS & HAS been the A show. False. Smackdown has never been the A show. I don't have a problem with JBL saying it though. It is a bit weirder now than when he did it in 06-07, because there's no brand split anymore. The only difference between Smackdown and Raw now is the commentary teams and GMs (and of course that the top two wrestlers usually don't bother going to Smackdown).

I'm usually a fan, but I was watching SmackDown this past Friday and just based off of the Big Show/Team Hell No match alone, he really annoyed me.
There one point where Bryan had Show in a sleeper, and you could tell Show was starting to fade a little, a good point in the match to acknowledge, or to put over Bryan's submission skills. But JBL was just going on about how unfair it was that Big Show was in the match and neither commentator acknowledged that part at all.
And then at the end, at the end when Kane and Daniel fought off Big Show, and Matthews started saying, "Kane and Daniel Bryan have no problem in fighting each othe-", obviously bringing up how they can't always co-exist and that's why they lose matches, but they look out for each other when needed, which is a focal part of the team, and they had just lost a match because of that reason, and they just defended each other from Big Show.
But JBL just started yelling, "I GOT A PROBLEM WITH THIS. I GOT A PROBLEM WITH BOOKER T PUTTING OUR CHAMPIO-" Like, all right. We get it, you think it's unfair. Fair enough, talk about it when there's nothing else to be calling. You keep going on about how unfair it is that Big Show has to face them, but you're not even making them sound like a threat because you're not acknowledging them at all.
Sorry for that. It just really annoyed me for some reason, whereas JBL is usually an excellent commentator.
