Okay, I don't really know if this has been proposed or talked about, but I was thinking about it and I just want everyone, including Mattel, to hear me out.
First of all, feel free to agree or disagree with me, but please, for the love of God, don't get cocky or post some smart@$$ comment. And please, no fighting. Now, onto my proposal.
As I have seen over the past year and a half, many of use collectors own an Elite Scale Ring. I am sorry to those who don't and I truly hope you find one at a decent price soon as it really is a great piece.
What if Mattel did an exclusive deal with Ringside to add items to these rings? Here is my idea:
Do 6 Sets a year, 1 every other month and make them Ringside Exclusives. The amount made can be based on how many PO are made, much like the Mail-Away figures were done. Keep it simple: each set has 3 ropes and a ring skirt that are all made like the ones from the Ring play set. Start it off with some Major names:
Smackdown, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, Money in the Bank, Survivor Series and maybe something like Elimination Chamber or Night of Champions.
As I said, they can be strictly RS Exclusives and can possibly run for $14.99-$19.99 per set. Each set can have the skirt that fits around the ring and colored ropes (Blue for SD!, White for Wrestlemania, maybe green for MITB).
I hope I can get a good response in this thread and that we can keep this thread alive to let Mattel hear an idea. I mean hey, if people did it with the SES CM Punk, why not try it with this??
What are everyone's thoughts on this? Would any of you be all for these sets? Would you buy any? I would personally buy any and all. Maybe, if they do well, we can even incorporate some classic ones in, like older WM, Survivor Series etc. logos

+1 sir, im digging this idea. I wish there would be more stuff out for the elite size ring.
I would also like to see maybe a steel cage for the ring. That would be awesome.

I think it's a great idea. I would definitely buy this if i could find an elite scale ring for a decent price. I'm sure this is the deal with many other collectors

I would liked to see a smaller Elite Scale Ring but bigger than a basic ring.
But I would love new accessories for my ESR, I would buy that in a heartbeat.

I already have one myself, but I think the Mattel Elite ring should be readily available.

I think they should reproduce the ESR, and just sell through RSC. They could charge more than what they originally sold for. Say $60-$80 for the rings. But at least create a supply. So people aren't being gouged at close to $300 prices.

Would I buy any? Sure? But I doubt it would work. The ESR failed at retail because retailers didn't want the high priced item. So they went to discount stores like big lots. So even though we collectors at WF have them and like them I doubt there would be enough of a demand for them for Mattel to want to produce them or RSC to want to sell it. Remember Mattel has always stated the lower the production run the more expensive it is to produce/sell

I'd rather get an RSC exclusive medium-sized ring. Bigger than the spring ring but doesn't have to be real scale.

I would be all over this. Little does Mattel realize that they lost my money where it concerns playsets and such thanks to me owning an ESR. I would be more apt to buying sets like the Elimination Chamber or HitC but I can't get over the size of their basic rings.
Once you've been in the very presence of the ESR there is no going back.
If Mattel was able to get ppl, including myself, to commit to spending $250 for Castle Grayskull... I am sure they cen get our support too so we can get ropes, skirts, cages, etc. I also agree it should be done through RSC and not Matty.

I'd certainly be down! Do it like they are doing Castle GreySkull. Show us a proto and see how many people preorder it. I'd love a Smackdown set up or a legends set up. We should have the option of buying another actual ring also, straight from RSC.
I know the MDT is reading. Please take this into consideration. The ropes and ring aprons are made already. How much would it cost to change colors and designs?? Couldn't be that much. I would LOVE a cage.

Sounds great, but Matty isn't very open-minded, at all.

Like PJ says, it wouldn't work. The failure of the elite ring confirmed they wouldn't create any more accessories for it. They need to sell roughly 5000 of something to make production of it worthwhile. However, we can all buy/make our own ropes from craft stores, and a customiser with the right equipment could produce ring skirts of the same or higher quality than Mattel's.
I'd probably buy a Smackdown set and maybe WrestleMania, but I'm not sure. I only have one elite ring, so I can only have one set of ropes/skirts on it at a time anyway. I didn't like the Legends Stone Cold coming with the t-shirt and vest for the same reason. He rarely/never wore the two together so it felt superfluous.

5000? RSC Exclusives are 3000. Are you sure? Regardless, I can't see them selling 3000 $20 ring skirts sets.
