So yea, about a month ago I started a gig-poster making 'thing' on the side of my Uni studies. Its something I have been passionate about for years now, graphic art in general really, but my obsession for music combines with my love for graphic art so well, so I started doing this in a serious way. I know a few bands/have connections, both local bands and fairly big bands (Vera Cruz and White Wives even). None have been used yet, but I feel I'm getting into my groove and style, so I thought I'd post my prototypes so far on here and see what peeps think; I know some of them have different writing on them, some were made for a specific local band, and some have different info due to them not being completed yet, and thats how I work. But yea, thanks, and any comments, bring 'em on!!

They're all quite simple, but I quite like the style. Some of them seem overly simple, to the point where it just looks like you've slapped some text on an image and called it a day. A lot of the font choices/placements seem a bit obstructive, too. What are they going to end up being printed on if you use them?

Oh yea, I should have said, the style is to be simple, its inspired I guess by the old gig posters of screamo, hardcore, deathcore bands of the 90s/00s, where it was quick and easily made. They aren't supposed to be used as major gig posters, but rather small advertising ones, say getting used to advertise to a local area that the band is playing. So they wouldn't be getting printed, maybe more used on social media as a way for bands to advertise specific shows maybe. I do agree that some are way too simple, like for example I'm not too happy with the Lennon one, the gradient Monroe one or really the Aliens one, but you have to make bad stuff to get the good stuff haha.

Just adding a new one here; 'Glamour Ghoul' that I did this morning with only 4 hours sleep (yay) Like the ones above, it isn't totally done, tweaks here and there, but for the most part

More, oh and I've PM'd you k5 I've really started getting into using the old vintage horror posters for the deisgns. And just to make sure its known, they aren't just copied and pasted down with writing, the posters are in pretty bad condition some of the time, so they are restored and then colours are changed, effects added maybe, and levels/saturation and other stuff like that is tweaked. I also bought a Graphics Tablet today, so Im hoping to start using my own graphics/designs for posters. ----- Here's my FB page for it, Vanity Graphics, so yea, like if ya's want, and share that shizz!! www.facebook.com/#!/VanityGraphics
