I remember some past job listings they posted for WWE creative. They listed requirements for the job which included a degree in Media Studies and 3-5 yrs experience in TV writing. The last thing they listed was "Not a fan". That would explain everything that is wrong with the product for the last 4 years.

It must be to ensure that personal preferences on the show don't get involved, you have to look at it objectively.
As a WWE fan, I have no idea how I could, in good conscience, pitch an idea for Mason Ryan to win the World Heavyweight Championship.

Build him up as a monster, feud him against the top Heel and have him help the top face. That's pretty much old school way of thinking.

There is a story that Stephanie McMahon yelled at Ranjin Singh (Who is a writer) for flipping out when he met Johnny Ace because he was a big fan of his All Japan stuff. The quote I believe was "Don't act like one of the marks"

Every time I've ever seen a job listing for the WWE Creative Staff, even interns and writer's assistants, one of the skill requirements is a strong understanding of the key demographic and knowledge of WWE's current product, storylines, and characters.

that was probably someone making a joke because most if not all of the recently hired WWE writers are so far from actual fans it seems like a requirement

So I guess what they really want are people who hate-watch Raw. Be familiar with the storylines, product, characters, and demographic, but don't like any of it.
