Whose performance was better to you guys? Leo or Waltz? Leo. I mean, Waltz is great, but IMO, he's just Hans Landa with a conscience. Leo was just amazing and totally unrecognizable as Candie. My thoughts exactly.

If I don't see this one more time before it's taken out of theaters I'll be upset with myself.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but what was so offensive about the Django dolls that have since been recalled?

From the various articles I've read, it's the idea of "packaging slavery." ing ridiculous. I almost bought a few a couple of weeks back, and goddamn I wish I would have. They're going to sell for an insane amount of money now.

Lol. They were just dolls that went along with the movie. I could say that Barbie Dolls glorify supreme self indulgence and and unconditional materialism. Let's recall those too. I could see if you pulled a cord on the back of the doll and it shouted out racial expletives. But they're dolls based on a fictional movie. I don't get it.

Fun little tid-bit. The man in the film who asks Django to spell his name is played by Franco Nero, who played a cowboy named Django in the 1966 film Django.
Foxx: "The D is silent"
Nero: "I know."
Nice touch.

The lucky people who have them now can likely get bank on eBay/etc..

From the various articles I've read, it's the idea of "packaging slavery." ing ridiculous. I almost bought a few a couple of weeks back, and goddamn I wish I would have. They're going to sell for an insane amount of money now. The Broomhilda doll was the one that got everyone worked up apparently. She's the one going for a couple thousand on Ebay right now. I see no difference between her and the Stephen figure though. I get that Broomhilda is in her "slave" outfit but then Candie is in his plantation owner outfit, and Stephen was technically in slave garb too. I don't understand people. Like Nazi Germany, this is something we've moved passed as a society. We should be comfortable with this type of thing imo. It came from the Weinstein's directly though. So NECA is probably as frustrated as everyone else. The dolls, and particularly the way they are packaged are amazing. I could have had them for like $40 each off Entertainment Earth and I was waiting until I saw the movie to pick them up. Turns out, I'm an idiot. The sets were originally going for about $5-6K when the announcement hit but the prices have started to drop. Django and Schultz are the two I want and the two I have been watching the most intently and those have dropped by about $75 to $100 in price just over the last week or so. Candie and Django are both getting super detailed figures from Enterbay. They retail for $205 and they are way more accurate than the NECA dolls in the face. If they made Schultz I would just get those since they are cheaper than the NECA dolls right now. It's a brilliant film and I would love for NECA to do a 6 inch line and just avoid Broomhilda this time around. Schultz, Candie, and Django in the way of the Kill Bill figures would be pretty ideal imo.

Just saw it today. Very good, but was just too long. Could have done with shaving 20 minutes off the running time.

Just saw it today. Very good, but was just too long. Could have done with shaving 20 minutes off the running time. I'm actually sort of surprised to hear that. Maybe it's just me, but I typically get a bit antsy in the theater during really long movies (2 and a half plus hours, usually). I was so enthralled by Django that I hardly even noticed how much time had passed. That's when I know I truly love a film.

I actually got to a point where I thought we weren't going to get a "happy ending." I was like, "oh sh*t", this thing is going to end and I'm going to be pissed. That last 20 minutes or so made the movie for me, and all the elements leading up to that point made me furious and that's why you want to see Django unleash fury. So it felt necessary to me in terms of storytelling.

I would have been pissed had it ended after the shootout at Candie's plant, but I think they should have wrapped the film up aroudn that time. It might benefit from a second viewing, but, although I did enjoy the bits following that shootout, I just kept expecting it to end.

Congratulations Tarantino, you've finally made a film I enjoyed. Solid cast, good balance of comedy, drama and violence, and most of all, fun. I also felt it ran a little too long and my interest dwindled greatly after a certain death in the film. I'd never own it or see it again, but good job QT.

I was almost mesmerized the entire run time of the film.
