Jim Cornette. He always annoyed the hell out of me. Reason I made this is because I'm watching a house show from 97 at Madison square garden on WWE on Demand. He and JR are commentating because it was televised on the Msg network I guess.
Anyways I hate his voice, sport coats, glasses, hair, and tennis rackets. I know he was the promoter for Smokey Mountain Wrestling and is still employed with the WWE as we speak. I just don't know how this guy commands so much respect from the guys in the business. Jericho really didn't bash him too hard in his book either.
Also, with the exception of the top guys, the roster in 97 was horrible. No wonder wcw was killing them then. Thank God the attitude era started late that year.
Sorry guys, I'm done

He's still semi with RoH, isn't he?
He always came off like a dick to me too. Was never a fan of him as a character or as a behind the scenes guy. He's going to be in Lex in March for Lexington Comic Con. I'll be sure to avoid his table.

One of the best talkers is a stretch, he was good when it came to old style southern "rasslin." According to a lot of guys, he was WAY out of touch with what the fans wanted during the Attitude Era. He is no longer employed by WWE after the OVW-Santino Marella slapping incident. He works for ROH now. He commands respect because he definitely had a great mind for the business in the 80s and early 90s, he also gave first breaks to a lot of guys like Jericho, Lance Storm, Bob Holly, New Jack, Kane, Chris Candido, Balls Mahoney, etc. I worked with him once or twice at conventions and he is a nice guy. He is brutally honest, maybe to a fault, so many people think he comes off as an bunghole.

Cornette has forgotten more about wrestling then anyone on this board will ever know.
He's also not been employed by WWE in like 10 years or more.

Big Jim Cornette fan. Used to love his "I'm Jim Cornette and that's my opinion" shoots on RAW.

Cornette is awesome, I love the way he tells it how it is and the guy is nearly always right. He was a heck of a talker and could have been put with ANYONE to get them over.
Why on earth they didn't run with Cornette managing Bart Gunn after the Brawl For All is beyond me, they could have made him a huge star, and Cornette was already managing him at the time.
One of WWE's biggest wasted opportunities ever.

I met him a few times and he even hates a member of my family with all his guts and still took a pic with me.

Cornette is one of the most brilliant minds wrestling has ever had! I'd rate him right up there with Gary Hart, Jake Roberts, and Paul Heyman.
If you hate his glasses, sports jackets, rackets, and obnoxious behaviour then I'd say he succeeded.

I loved Cornette in the NWA and he was one of the greatest managers of all-time. I think he has a great mind for the business, but he also thinks a little too highly of himself, and that's why he doesn't have a bigger impact anymore, because he doesn't work well with others, and he refuses to compromise. Saying what you think all the time might earn you respect from some people, but it will also hold you back a lot more than it will help you.

My second favorite manager of all time. Loved him with Eaton & Lane. Great mind for wrestling. Never met him in person, but he does come off like a douche in his shoots.

I could listen to him tell old wrestling/road/locker room stories all day. I really enjoy his shoot interviews. He may seem a bit harsh at times, but the man knows his stuff.

Oh LOL.....his reaction in the 97 shoot is awesome.
