How has this not happened yet? That is one of the most iconic movie franchises of all time. They would def sell and there's so many characters, not to mention the different versions of each character. I would love for this to happen. They did the mini mates. why not 7" detailed figures. Thoughts?

Mattel had originally planned to do a BTTF classics line, but could only secure the likenesses to Doc and Marty. They later announced they weren't going to do the figures at all. But that's fine with me, no old man Biff, no me care.

Mattel said it would cost too much to produce them. Basically Mattel can't figure out how to make them for $4 and then sell them to you for $25.

The problem is they would have to make too many unique bodys for each version of doc and marty, and couldn't reuse the same parts for every fig like they did with the ghostbusters line.

That would be an entire line I would collect. Especially if they made a to-scale Delorian for the figures.
Someone make these!!

Diamond select made the munsters. Those def arnt reusable body's. Diamond Select isn't Mattel....Very different business model and quality. Mattel has a track record when it comes to not creating figs they can't reuse parts of. ToyGuru specifically stated how it cost more to produce new molds therefore Mattel will always go to characters that can be retooled with minimal changes.

Didn't Diamond Select used to sell exclusive Kenner figures during the late 90s?

You should suggest it to a company like NECA since they do random movie figures all the time.

Yeah and NECA is doing Rambo now. They are always doing classic films, like their Rocky series.

Yeah and NECA is doing Rambo now. They are always doing classic films, like their Rocky series. Jakks made em first and had obscure characters like Frank Stallone and the Meat which NECA won't make

Jakks made em first and had obscure characters like Frank Stallone and the Meat which NECA won't make I know Jakks made them first, they has nothing to do with anything...NECA makes a lot of classic films into figures...like Alien and Predator and all the horror classics and now Rocky and Rambo and Terminator and stuff...all I'm saying is that NECA would be the company to approach to make BTTF figures like this thread is asking...

Why are we talking about diamond select? Mattel has the BTTF license. Diamond Select made these... So why wouldn't they be able to make the figures to go with it? Off topic but since NECA was brought up... Where are my Johnny 5 figures NECA?

I want to say it was Diamond Select that said in addition to paying for the likeness rights Fox also wanted a very large donation to his foundation. They explained they didn't have the funds to do that as they are a smaller company but those are the terms that Fox wanted.
