Ya know, this has been something I've been asking myself quite a bit for the past month or two. Why was B22 Jericho a Shelfwarmer? I mean I'm sure it wasn't just my area that had tons and I mean TONS of them on the shelves.
This was one of the more anticipated figures of that series along with Booker, and it was Jerichos first figure in what? A year and a half? I figured collectors new to mattel would be all over this one. Idk I just really can't understand what happened with that one..

It was the same sculpt, right? That might be why.

I don't think that's the reason....and Jericho was a super FACE the last month+ he was in WWE feuding with Dolph Ziggler. I think it's just the fact that certain guys just don't sell. Triple H, Undertaker, and The Rock don't sell very fast either....and they are really popular, but for some reason it just takes FOREVER for their figures to sell. Maybe it's because if you've got 1 Jericho you've got them all and people don't see the need to continuously buy every version of Triple H, Undertaker, Jericho or Rock unless there is a DRASTIC change in their appearance/attire. I personally have Elite 4 Chris Jericho and really don't feel the need to buy another Jericho again until he changes his appearance drastically....probably once he comes back for his next stint and they make his figures with the GIANT tattoos he's gotten on his arms. But I'm not going to re-buy a guy over and over just because the design on his tiny trunks are just a smidge different than the one I already own and have had for 2 years.

It was only anticipated by collectors and probably not a large number at that.
He was long gone by the time it hit retail.
His run was severely damaged by WWE calling an audible and having Sheamus win the Rumble instead of Jericho. WWE then had to scramble and come up with a less than captivating reason for him to face Punk at Mania. (OK, this probably isn't a valid reason, but it bothered me)
If you already have a Jericho figure, this one wasn't a huge upgrade.
Hell, if it wasn't for the Jacket, I wouldn't even want his E20 figure.

Personally, that headscan is terrible. People bash Jakks balloon heads, well i equally hate Mattel's undersized heads and frequent terrible scans.

Hell, if it wasn't for the Jacket, I wouldn't even want his E20 figure. I know you and others will say I'm wrong, and clearly I can't prove it....but there was no audible pulled on Chris Jericho's last WWE stint. The plan was always for him to come back and put over Punk. He was never supposed to win the Royal Rumble or win the WWE Title. In fact, and Jericho has said this, the ONLY reason he came back to WWE was to wrestle CM Punk at Wrestlemania, but WWE kept asking him to stay a little longer, just a little longer, just a little longer...and he agreed because he was having fun. So there was no "creative scramble". The plan was always for Sheamus to win the Royal Rumble because he needed that ticket to Wrestlemania to face the Champion (Daniel Bryan). Clearly Chris Jericho did not need the Royal Rumble to get his ticket to Wrestlemania and his WWE Championship match as they had already planned a very personal feud between he and CM Punk. Jericho didn't need the Rumble. If he had won the Rumble and still lost to Punk, which was the plan all along, they would have never been able to get Sheamus over the way they did. Sheamus needed the Rumble way more than Jericho. If any audible was pulled on Jericho's last stint it was turning him face and having him put over Ziggler...and in fact, the small feud between Ziggler and Jericho produced some of Jericho's best matches in his last stint.

Jericho was packed 3 per case in that set Plus he's been off TV since Summerslam, so not fresh in casual fans/kids minds

His figures are just not good sellers.
I remember one of his figures was shelfwarming at my WalMart for like 2 years.

So I have to make sure I have enough to get as many new characters as I can. I can't spend $17.99 on a Jericho when I already have one when I could use that on a Ryback or a Lesnar or a Cesaro.

As I mentioned in a previous thread today, I think B22 hitting full force after Christmas and after B23 and Best of 2012 played a large part in that happening. All I really see now Basics wise is B22, but its not just Jericho pegwarming. It is every figure but Booker T, even Christian who got a great new head scan and was 1 per case. I could find at least 3 or 4 easily right now if I wanted any more.
Of course, him not being on TV doesn't help either. Had this set hit when it should have, I don't think it would have been an issue. If it would have appropriately followed B21 after late Summer/early Fall (right around when Jericho had just left) he still would have been fresh in people's minds and would have probably sold better.

For me it is because I am an Elite collector and I was holding out for a new Elite of him. (I don't have his E4 figure BTW)
At least that is why I passed on him, and even though he doesn't pegwarm (where I live anyway) he doesn't exactly fly off shelves either.

He was a 3 per case figure so that was 1 or 2 per case more than everyone else in the set

I found a fresh case of B22 at Wal Mart a couple of weeks before Xmas and put them on layaway, but unfortunately never made it back to get them. I really wanted that Jericho, but now after seeing Elite 20, I'll wait for that version.
