Yea I know Mattel has never scanned Flair and hes not signed to a legends deal, but TNA dropped the lawsuit vs WWE. Do you guys think its almost a certainty now? I don't see why mattel can't try to sign him now.
Here's the article
TNA has dropped the lawsuit that they filed against WWE last year. As most of you know by now, the lawsuit had been filed after Brian Wittenstein, a former TNA employee who had left the company and moved to WWE, had attempted to supply information he had stolen from TNA about talent contracts and other information. WWE had notified TNA but when Ric Flair tried to get out of his contract to go to WWE, TNA felt that WWE had targeted them and filed suit.
TNA filed documents on January 15th stating that both sides had agreed to pay for their own legal costs and that the suit had been withdrawn. There is no word as to whether a settlement has been reached, or whether the lawsuit was dismissed with or without prejudice. If the suit is dismissed without prejudice than it could conceivably be refiled again.
The court had previously filed a permanent injunction against Wittenstein demanding that he return all information he took from TNA, not speak of any TNA information to any third parties (including WWE) and not breach any agreements he had signed with TNA.

That's great, the only downside is the time it would take for them to get the figure out to stores. I'm thinking late 2013, at least I would hope.

I don't see why we couldn't get a Flair proto by then if he strikes a deal with WWE and Mattel.

Doesn't Flair already have a deal with Mattel? I thought he independently signed a deal with Mattel to have the exclusive rights to produce figures of him, which is why Jakks was not allowed to make a TNA figure of him. I might not have it 100% correct, but I know there is some funky legal loophole as to why Jakks couldn't make him.
I think Mattel has exclusive rights to Flair, they are just waiting for Flair to sign with WWE and for WWE to give them the green light to make him.

I have a feeling production would be like what they did with Brock. The second he's signed pretty much next day he goes into design. Plus, it's flair..no tattoos, no big designs, all basic colors which means come elite=most likely cloth robe

SOMETHING happened which prevented Jakks from making a TNA figure of Ric Flair, I'm just not 100% sure all the details but I know it was something.

I do remember something to that extent about Jakks not being able to do a TNA Flair but when he first came back a few wks ago and some1 started a mattel flair thread Bill said he's not signed by mattel.

He has been confirmed for both RAW in San Jose next Monday and the SD! taping in Sacramento on Tuesday...I am almost certain they will have a Mattel display at one of those shows. Flair definitely needs to sign so we can get a figure of him. It would open up a whole realm of cash flow for him...

I think Flair is signed to a deal (image and name use for DVD's and books) but not a mattel figure deal. That's why Jakks couldn't sign him at all and why WWE was able to footage of him for various DVD's (WCCW, 4 horseman) while he was in TNA
