In honor of the Royal Rumble, and for anyone that has been on the site that long, I'd like to know the overall reaction when John Cena won in 2008. It was just a shocking moment and I'd like to know what you guys thought of it.

While not my ideal winner, I actually really enjoyed when Cena won the Rumble. I went to that show fully expecting Triple H to walk out the winner, and it seemed predictible, but then Cena unexpectedly came back and won. I think had he been announced in advance, it wouldn't have been as good. I liked it more for the unpredictablity and the shock value of Cena coming back months early than I did for Cena actually winning if that makes any sense.

Was probaby the last time an entire attendance was right behind him.

Probably one of the few literal, WTF moments of the modern era. Nobody thought Cena was going to be back that soon.

I missed the Rumble match that year and a classmate asked me the following day if I had seen it. I said no and he told me Cena had won and I thought he was joking. I came back home and saw it. Couldn't believe it.

I was there; and the arena EXPLODED when his music hit.

I'm 30 now. Me and 3 of my friends were there and we HATE cena. I'm the biggest HHH fan there is. When Cenas music hit, we all went nuts. The energy in MSG was insane. After Batista went out and HHH and Cena were face to face it was amazing. Everyone on their feet. Everyone going insane. That's the first time I remember the crowd doing the "booo"/"yeah" chant for every punch. I thought for sure HHH was winning, until Cenas music hit

What amused me about it all was that, on that night it seemed like all the so-called Cena haters realised they had missed the guy; then once everything had settled down they all went back to acting like he was Satan/ thw worst thing since Hitler, etc.

I too was there live, 1st time to a MSG show and will not miss another since. The noise was incredible mainly because no one saw it coming. Heard he arrived to the arena an hour late just to avoid being spotted

Saw it the next day on WWE.com & was really surprised as I had been guessing that the winner would be either Triple H, Batista or Undertaker. Wasn't expecting him back until after Wrestlemania.

Oh, I loved it. I actually can't STAND Cena, but that was a complete surprise, and me being there at MSG LIVE made it more amazing. When his song started, I just jumped out of my seat and was like "Nooooooooo way"
I loved it.
