Jimmie Johnson deserved the championship, so props to him. Can't wait for the crapstorm that'll come with seven and eight.. I hate to see him break Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty's Record

Jimmie has six, I'd be ecstatic if Dale could just win one! Sadly, I never see that happening. At this point in his career winning consistently means more to me than a championship. I'm happy for Jimmie, in my opinion he's the best driver of all time. If he gets to seven, there's no doubt he will get number eight and surpass Earnhardt Sr. and Petty. Also, I'm happy to see Austin win the Nationwide championship. Even though I felt Nascar was doing everything they could to make sure he won it. The Nationwide series is laughable at this point. I'd really like to see the cup guys limited to five races a year. That way we could see more out of guys like; Blaney, Burton, Dillon and less out of Busch, Keselowski, Logano ect.. I can't wait for next year. Austin Dillon is bringing the three car back to Sprint Cup, Ty Dillon is moving into the number three in Nationwide Series, and Chase Elloitt could possible be moving to Nationwide to race for JRM! Exciting stuff lined up for next year! People simply wont admit it but Junior just isnt that good of a driver. If his name was Burton, Bodine, or Marlin, he would probably be out of NASCAR by now. He's really not that much better then Danica honestly and by that yes he's a much better driver then her but she got where she is because of her looks/gender and Junior has gotten where he is because of his name.

It's because Jimmie is the John Cena of NASCAR. You don't want to see him win, but it's gonna happen. Truex is like Wade Barrett.

Jeff Gordon mighta got there because of his Daddy, but he shows he deserves to be there. Austin Dillon mighta got there because of his Grandpa, but he shows he deserves to be there. It's not like Dale is a back packer, he's always there, just never gets it done. You don't have to win a hundred times to be a great driver, being a consistent top 10/top 5 driver in Sprint Cup in this age qualifies as a great driver too.

From NASCAR stand point, Junior is a good/fair driver at best. Yes he got there on his name but simply put if his name was Dale Jones or Dale Smith, the chances he would be with Hendricks or have a big time sponsor like Mountain Dew would be very very unlikely. Not counting short term/sporadic drivers, Junior is one of the most unsuccessful drivers from Hendricks in terms of wins. (Underlined are guys who have been at HMS longer then Junior. Unfair to compare him to Gordon & Johnson, just listed them for stats. Jeff Gordon- 88 WinsJimmie Johnson- 63 WinsTerry Labonte- 12 WinsTim Richmond- 9 WinsDarrell Waltrip- 9 WinsGeoff Bodine- 7 WinsRicky Rudd- 4 WinsKen Schrader- 4 WinsKyle Busch- 4 WinsDale Junior- 2 Wins

He had 22 top 10s this year. Same as Kyle, 2 less than Jimmie, 2 more than Kenseth, and 1 more than Harvick. He has great consistent finishes, though he doesn't win very often, but when 21 races in one season are won between 4 guys, not winning a race doesn't mean you're not a great driver, it just means you're not Jimmie Johnson or Matt Kenseth.

I said yrs ago, if his name wasn't Earnhardt, he would be fortunate to have a team. I loved his dad, and Jr is about the only reason I watch anymore, but he just isn't that good.
This season was promising however, and he had a lot of good finishes. Had the best car a couple of times too, but bad luck got him. If Kenseth didn't block him Sunday, he definitely had a shot.
He has improved some I would say. A few yrs ago he lacked any communication with his crew it seemed. If his car was crap, it was going to stay crap. You were also lucky if he found pit road most weeks. He pitted in the wrong pit in Nationwide race one yr. The one time he was close to a title, he slammed the wall at Atlanta I believe which ruined any shot. He has gotten better, and stopped some of the boneheadedness I will say. Optimistic for next season.

If you're talking about just any season, you're right. Consistency is big during the season(s) but Im looking more at a bigger picture when it comes to his career. You look at guys like Petty, Dale Sr, Pearson, Gordon etc...they dont say "man they were consistent drivers" they talk about their Championships and their wins...which ultimately whether we like it or not, is what people judge athletes by.

Steve Addington named crew chief for the #51 team. Expected that Allgaier comes up but still no official word.
NASCAR has set the terms for the sponsoring of the soon to be ex-Nationwide Series. Nationwide currently pays $10M a year, well NASCAR is looking for a raise, so to speak. They want $12M-$15M a year, with a 10 year guaranteed commitment. Subway was named as an interested party when the rights came up in 2008, no word if they are among the interests parties this time.

Also in regards to the Nationwide Series buyer, NASCAR is also looking for a media commitment of $10M+ and an activation commitment of $10M+ so the new title sponsor will be looking at $30M+ spend annually.

Mouth open, foot inserted.
James Finch plans to take a car from new Phoenix owner Harry Scott and run an entry in the 500. No wword on a driver or what car number.
And am I the only one who feels that Harry oughta change the name of the team? Scott Racing, Scott Motorsports, something to show it's his.
