I still think it would've been miles better to have Punk keep the title until Mania and forget about The Rock and the WWE title. Having Punk defeat The Rock would have only made him a way bigger and better heel than he already is and would've set even more fuel to the fire in the Punk vs Cena feud. Punk would be able to claim not only has Cena never defeated him for the WWE Championship, but that he successfully retained against the man Cena wasn't able to beat at last years WrestleMania. We could get the conclusion to a long feud at the grandest stage of them all.
But who cares about that? As long as they can shrink more money of The Rock...

As much as I don't wanna see it, they don't need to explain anything. Cena won the The Rumble and Rock is gonna be WWE champ. That's it.

Or it becomes a way for the title....
Either way, as long as a full-time WWE wrestler wins the belt and becomes Champ I will be happy.

John Cena won the Royal Rumble. The Rock is the WWE Champion. The Royal Rumble winner is entitled to a shot at the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania. That's their 'excuse', not that they really need one since no one is forcing you to watch.
