Who do you and think everyone consider will be known as the bigger star? CM Punk or Randy Orton? I know many will automatically jump to Punk, but let's consider this:
Orton's accomplishments are extensive. He's the youngest-ever World Champion. He's had 9 WrestleMania matches, 3 of which have been World title matches, and 1 of which he main evented. He's feuded with and challenged the Undertaker at WrestleMania. He's been in a number of factions such as Evolution and Legacy. He's won the Royal Rumble. He's a third generation superstar. He's much rivaled against Triple H and John Cena. He's had classic matches against the likes of Shawn Michaels, Edge, Mick Foley, Christian, Triple H, John Cena, Undertaker, and Rey Mysterio.
As Orton has backed into a more subtle role in WWE, there's no denying that Punk is the future of the company within the immediate future. But will Punk last as long as Orton did on top? Punk is well on his way in cementing his own legacy, but I've got to ask... are Orton's best days behind him? Will Punk still be considered as huge as he is today?

Orton, no question. He's much more widely known than Punk.

Great Points.
I'd say when they are both in the hall of fame you'll see Cm Punk being better than Randy Orton.
Its quite the toss up but right now Randy Orton is better than CM PUNK...right now.
Major points..
CM PUNK. -Cm punks WWE TITLE REIGN -Numerous titles reigns -Came from nothing -Back to BACK MITB winner & successful -PERFECT on the mic -Great in ring performer -Beat Chris Jericho to retain his WWE TITLE @wm -Leader of SES & NEXUS
RANDY ORTON. -Royal Rumble win -Youngest world champion -3rd generation superstar -Match with Undertaker at WM -Beat The Rock and Mick Foley at WM -Great in ring performer -Defeated numerous LEGENDS -Leader of Legacy -Part of one of the greatest factions evolution. -Numerous titles reigns

I hate Randy Orton, but he's definitely the bigger star. But CM Punk will get the votes here - this is WFigs.

In the long run I think Punk will end up being the bigger star. The only thing left for Punk to do to be on Orton's plain is to win the Rumble.

Orton WAS the bigger star until the last year or so. Punk's title reign and Orton's de-push has put Punk well ahead imo. If both men retired tomorrow, no doubt in my mind that CM Punk will be looked at as an innovator while Orton won't (not to say he doesn't have his own place in WWE history).

As much as I prefer CM Punk I have to vote Randy Orton here for the reasons already mentioned in the OP

Tough call but I still think Punk. He beat out Cena in merch sales a while back which Orton hasn't done. Orton has been a megastar longer, but right now Punk is a bigger star. I do however think Punk had to do more to become a megastar and remain a megastar, while Orton is already solidified as a megastar.

I think it's got to be Punk at this point. The rise of Punk has been happening almost on a reverse trajectory of the fall of Orton. Poor Randy has been so stagnant and hasn't done anything of interest almost since the minute he turned face.

Orton gets the edge in my book. He's been around longer, he's done more, he's ACCOMPLISHED more. I don't really see how it's a contest; but on WF, you put anybody against Punk and they're going to lose.
Granted, out of the two, Punk is bigger now, but a year of big doesn't automatically overthrow Ortons' 6 years in the spotlight.
I love Punk as much as the next guy, but there's got to be a point where all the credit he consistently receives becomes nothing more than delusional smark talk.

6 inches, half a foot imo. Right now, Punk is definitely a bigger star than Randy imo. As has been said, the rise of Punk coincided with the downslide of Randy. However, there were times when I thought Randy was the most over guy on the roster. He just has that "guys want to be him, girls want to be on him" persona. Also, and I don't know why a large part of the IWC just won't accept it, Randy has had some amazing matches, including with CM Punk. Guy has sort of done everything there is to do in WWE at this point, and doesn't get enough credit for his contributions imo. He's stale us right now though, so I'll give you that. Punk on the other hand just came off a full calendar year long WWE title reign. He's faced the Rock, will seemingly face Taker with the possibility of actually winning, and if he faces Austin at WM30 he's cemented, forever. So he's definitely the hot hand between the two right now. I'd like to see Punk get a Rumble win, but that would be about the only thing left to cross off the list. It's just kind of hard to compare when one guy has already had all kinds of opportunity and Punk is just now getting his day in the spotlight. So I guess ask me in five years and it'll probably be easier to pick.

Shows featuring CM Punk or Randy Orton in main event singles matches that drew over 200,000 buys:
Wrestlemania 25 - Randy Orton/Triple H - 960,000 buys Summerslam 2007 - Randy Orton/John Cena - 537,000 buys Summerslam 2004 – Randy Orton/Chris Benoit - 387,000 buys Summerslam 2009 - CM Punk/Jeff Hardy - 369,000 buys Summerslam 2011 - CM Punk/John Cena - 296,000 buys Armageddon 2005 - Randy Orton/Undertaker - 280,000 buys No Mercy 2007 - Randy Orton/Triple H - 271,000 buys Night Of Champions 2009 - CM Punk/Jeff Hardy - 267,000 buys Judgment Day 2008 - Randy Orton/Triple H - 252,000 buys Survivor Series 2010 - Randy Orton/Wade Barrett - 244,000 buys Unforgiven 2004 - Randy Orton/Triple H - 243,000 buys
(in an unrelated note, I never realized Orton/Triple H was such a big money feud over the years)
So Orton is a bigger PPV star. Punk probably sells more merchandise. And both of them are notorious for doing poor ratings when they're on top. Overall Orton is probably a bigger star.
Talking strictly kayfabe as we stand here in 2013 though, CM Punk is bigger. He's in the main event right now and Orton isn't. In 6 months time though if their roles are reversed and Orton has turned heel and being pushed strongly on Raw again and Punk is the one taking a backseat then Orton will once again be seen as bigger.

2 years ago, I'd say Orton. But now Punk Agreed. Orton has been lost in the shuffle for sometime now. Last interesting thing he did was feud with Christian. Punk is slowly becoming the huger star if you put both careers together.

Punk is the bigger star currently. Before his MITB 2011 though, I would have said Orton. Orton hasn't been relevant since his feud with Henry. Its sad but true.

its not what you do, but what's remembered, and I've honestly forgot half of what randy has accomplished, hes faded into the past, my last memorys of him is feuding with foley at backlash. and hell in a cell with taker. hes faded into the background now.

To all the people saying stuff like "Orton has been at the top for longer/Punk has only had a year of success" etc. Are you forgetting Punk being in many main events/having several world title reigns from 2008-2011?
Not only that, but Punk isn't going anywhere. He's not leaving, he's rarely injured and given how he's been pushed for the last 18 months, I doubt he's dropping back down to the midcard. Can you say all those things about Randy Orton? Probably not.

orton is a house name that had the wwe hype machine behind him. punk did it all himself, and is completely original. punk will be remembered as the bigger star.
