Was the Rock and Foley booked to lose to Evolution or did Foley really screw up and not here the count and kicked out too late?
I always wondered this as Foley looked awfully shocked and disappointed after the match.
I bought WM20 on dvd brand new for 6.99 the other day at FYE. I watched 18 the other day and may watch 19 today since I have a day off.

Assuming it was booked that way to lead up to Foley vs. Orton at Backlash.

I absolutely loved this match - and the concept.
One time Rock didn't have to say a sngle word, yet was still brilliant throughout.

Like BashcrashWiley said, booking it that way gave Foley a reason to want a rematch. They wouldn't have let Rock get pinned either.

Foley did an amazing job selling the loss. The Rock n Sock had the momentum, and literally outta no where Orton hit the RKO for the win. It seemed to play out that way to show that Orton can hit it outta no where as well put Evolution over.

yeah it was the correct decision-no doubt.
plus it led to the match that got Orton over......vs Cactus Jack @ Backlash 2004.

Simple case of being pushed too soon, he wasn't ready for that spot at such short notice nor should he have turned face. If they built it from that Summer all the way to Mania 21 it would've been nothing short of amazing, glad they did an awesome job with Batista.

the thing about Orton was.......he showed absolutely no signs of face potential to me.plus Ortons character was non fictional at that time.....he was that guy in real life too and it showed.
he was turned on the drop of a hat to feud with HHH.I knew when he shook Benoits hand he was turning......but for the life of me I couldnt figure out why.
I couldnt hear many cheering for him at all-now maybe Im wrong.I definately think a slow burn face turn would have benefited him.same way it did with Batista.Hayes masterminded Batistas turn and got it 100% right.the fans were foaming at the mouth for him to hammer HHH.he was also way more popular than Cena at RR that year.
plus this is hugely important.......Orton didnt turn on Evolution-they kicked him out.it wasnt his choice so he looked like the butthurt loser over it.
yknow?

Agreed, Orton was just not likeable as a face considering what an arrogant, self absorbed person he was in real life. I remember him getting quite a lot of cheers as a heel in his feud with Edge but after his face turn the big reactions were pretty much from all the females.

The fans loved heel Orton in 2004. They didn't want him to be a face. That showed when they cheered Orton over a face Edge but booed him against a heel HHH.
Triple H should have turned face, Orton should have stayed heel and kicked him out of Evolution. Then HHH would have had to try and make amends with all the guys he'd screwed over the last few years like HBK, Benoit and Jericho to take out Evolution.

I loved the 3 on 2 match at WM and the rematch with Foley Vs. Orton at Backlash was great.
