Hey I just wanted to get the opinions of some people on here. Is it just me or does Mattel not seem as great as it was when they first got the WWE license? I don't know it just seemed at the start they were really putting Jakks to shame, but it seems they just being as good as they were. I mean look at all the merchandise Mattel was making, or partnering to make. I mean don't get me wrong I love both. I grew up with Jakks, but i mean I love that Mattel seems to make each guy different. It also seems that Mattel doesn't make as many as everyone as Jakks did. I can never hardly find any of the Mattel figures in the stores like I could the Jakks figures. Mattel's quality is amazing, but at the same time they just seem to have been getting bland. I think Power Slammers was what got me. Has anyone seen those ring??!!! How can they be seeing for 12-14 bucks? They are really flimsy and just not worth nowhere near that. I'm guilty of getting a Cena Power Slammer because I wanted to see what the hype was and well,....you all know how that has been. I'm also really tired of like Toy R Us getting all of these amazing exclusives as well as K-Mart I mean Wal*Mart is finally getting a exclusive set to themselves after a good while (the Superstar Entracne Figures, and that horrible 6 pack) but I mean it's just that the whole Mattel innovative has just been so bland as of late to me. I mean I may be the only person that feels that way, and I may get hateful stuff as well but it's just my opinion. I think the build a figures are really awesome but buying them off eBay is horrible. It seems the scalpers have hit the Mattel line bad.

I like them but I wish they were a little more open to fan input

I mean I'm with you guys I think their still going strong. i do get tired of seeing either a Mysterio or Cena in every line, but I also know that's just to sell some for the kiddies as well. I mean tho it's like at the start they were open to fan suggestions and wanted to make what we wanted to buy, but now it just seems like they are so against the fans now. I know this has been beat to death on here, but I mean honestly why can they not make like an online exclusive for the Elite Scale Ring for people who missed the first one. Do they not see there is a market for it, and that people are paying up to $400 for one on eBay so don't they think they could sell some online for $60? I'd buy them easily. It's like tho they never change who is in the rumblers either (yes I collect rumblers). There's 500000 John Cena's with different colors and 10000000000 Rey's with different attire, but nothing else ever comes out. Randy Orton once in awhile on a good day. I collect all that I can from Mattel even the odd ball stuff they make that isn't figure related, but it just seems like all of that is gone. I did almost cream my ants when I got the Mattel Kane mask it's better than the replica on WWESHop.

You just gotta keep hunting my friend. And that includes online. I've found some pretty rare stuff online for cheap. I started off on this forum feeling EXACTLY like you did and now I'm the biggest mattel mark there is. They really do make a great product I just wish they would aknowledge the fact that WE all want another ESR and more Flashbacks.

Exactly I mean I've scored great online I got a Series 1 Elite Punk for 3 bucks and not too mention all the other great figures I've managed to get and that's what got me full on as a Mattel Mark was holding a Elite in my hand and just moving it, but at the same time I wish there was still Flashbacks, and a ESR or like second chances on other great items like Elimination Chamber, and gimmick matches like that.

Elite rings would not be $60 if they were Internet exclusives. They would be closer to $100 to make up for the limited production run. And just because some people (how many? A hundred? Two hundred?) have bought them on Ebay for big money doesn't mean that five thousand people would buy them for $100, or even $80 or $60. We're the hardcores, but a lot of people who would've collected wrestling figures five or six years ago don't have that disposable cash anymore. Mattel tried many different collector-only items, and they pretty much all bombed. Flashbacks are going well and that's about it. We are too small a section of the market for things aimed at us alone to be profitable.

I think they're doing an awesome job. I thought Jakks CS line was untouchable, but now I see that there's no comparison imo. If you compare present day Mattel to when they first started, its easy to say they were better then. But that's becasue they were doing legends, entrance greats, and defining moments; all great series for collectors. Ony thing I would agree with is, yes, I wish they'd listen to us just a little more when it comes to who we'd like to see produced.

First you need to stop starting almost all your sentences with "I mean" lol But seriously retailers ask for the exclusives...Mattel doesn't just decide a store gets an exclusive. And again with the ESR it failed at retail. The retailers didn't want to order/stock a $60 ring. They'd just carry the Basic rings. Mattel ended up having to sell their remaining stock to discount/overstock stores like Big Lot. So once that happened the ring was considered a failure. They will NEVER sell it on Matty, because to sell it there the $60 MSRP would jump to about $100 before shipping, because of the limited production run would cost more to do. And they know people weren't willing to pay the $60 when it was first released so they aren't going to produce something that was already a hard sell at retail

I think Flashbacks are going to eventually break off into their own line and be marketed as elite flash backs instead of ledgends

Its most certainly just you. If nothing else, Mattel has gotten better as time as moved on. Especially with sculpts and body molds.

When they were doing the legends line..they would only do legends..guys that weren't active. So that meant no Takers, Kanes, HHHs. Some of the bigger sellers to have in a line like that. Flashbacks are just past attires and gimmicks wrestlers had and they throw legends in there too. Which if they would've done that with legends line in the first place we could still very well have the legends line going today.

I know, but at the same time it seems like they would still have a limited production. I know the numbers aren't huge for people who would pay $100 for a ESR, but at the same time it seems like they never did the first one justice IMO. I thought Jakks R3 line was amazing when I was little and had one of those scale rings, but once I held a Mattel Elite in my hand I knew there was no turning back. Mattel is great, but it seems like they just let a lot go.
