Now before I go on this rant, this is just something I was thinking about before and thought maybe this would have made Rock/Cena II more exciting to watch.
The build up to Rock/Cena I wasnt as good as it should have been. They constantly tried to get fans to cheer Cena and have him take shots at The Rock. But who were they trying to fool? 90% of the audience wanted to cheer The Rock no matter what was happening. Anyway, nobody knew how long or even if The Rock was going to stay past WM. Im sure a majority of you guys can agree that we thought the ending would be Cena go over Rock, passing the torch to Cena just like Hogan to Rock 10 years earlier. But, surprisingly The Rock beat Cena clean. Hours after this happened, Rock/Cena II was predicted for Mania 29 by a lot of people.
After watching Cena's promo video before his match with Rock from last years Mania had me realizing; this really was Cena's match to win. He had been the top dog for years and Rock, the old dog, came back and basically bullied and crapped all over Cena. This match meant everything to John and he made it known.
So say Cena went over. Won the match and Rocks respect. Cena would go onto do his thing with Lesnar, then at some point winning the title and going on to defend it at Mania 29. Rock enters the Rumble and wins and challenges Cena at Mania. Setting up Rock/Cena II, same match and same build just both guys swapping spots.
This to me, would set up a more unpredictable contest. You would think well Cena won last year, so Rock has to win this year. But this is for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. Cena is around all year and Rock is not, how can Rock beat Cena at Mania for the title?
What do you guys think? What would have made this contest between Rock/Cena more enjoyable to watch? The path they went or the alternate one? Though Im sure 50% would just say screw the match we want Punk/Danielson lol
