Ok, we all know that Mattel makes the hands-down greatest wrestling figures of all time, and for every guy they may miss the mark on, there's another 10 or so they knock out of the park.
Ignoring the odd loose joint or screwy paint app, I think we can all agree they're doing a great job.
But my main issue with them is the total lack of communication or involvement with any of us.
It used to be that we'd get a nice little Q&A session with them every month or possibly even every couple of weeks. When the line initially took off and we had Basics, Elites, Entrance Greats, Legends and, later on, Defining Moments to choose from, it seemed like we were getting news and protos and other stuff every other week.
Now, though, with only a handful of lines still desired by collectors, we have nothing to go by these days. To their credit, MDT post on here to shoot down any rumours getting out of hand, to clarify things and so on. But that's really about it. Even their own forums on MattyCollector have gone unanswered since August last year. 6+ months of people being ignored is unacceptable. Fine, maybe some of the questions are repetitive, but there's no justification in just ignoring them altogether.
Elite 21 is about 4 weeks away from hitting RSC, yet we have no idea what any of the figures look like. 4 weeks and we haven't seen one prototype of any of them. What the hell?! How can we buy something when we don't know what it looks like?
I think Mattel should do more to involve us in things. I'm not saying they should let us make decisions, because we all remember the Legends voting fiasco, but just keep us more informed.
I'm not even asking to see all protos of all upcoming figures. Far from it. Just a headscan here, a proto mold there, a finished proto every few weeks of a guy we already know is in wave x - you get the idea. No major spoils, just little nuggets to keep us interested and to encourage people to place their preorders and things.
Anybody else agree?
