W/ the current ADR/Swagger feud being the latest feud base around racism, makes me miss Muhammad Hassan. Great heel and character who was different from typical heels against America. While typical heels in these feuds hated America for no reason, Hassan was an Arab-American who had been treated poorly by the American people follwing 9/11. It was a cool twist in that he was technically the face and the fans were the heels who booed him for speaking the truth. His character was never meant to be a terrorist, yet the WWE screwed up as usual and turned him into what the American people wrongfully claimed him to be.
Not only was his character great, but the guy had a great look and was above average in the ring. Davari as his manager was the icing on the cake for this great guy. He had a ton of potential but was sadly wasted. Anyone else miss this guy?

Absolutely loved his character. He was the perfect heel.
Really a shame it was such a short run.

He was absolutely brilliant. Shame his career was ruined by some terrible tragedy that had nothing to do with him.

Hassan's character was great and complex. Unfortunately, as you said, they turned it into the stereotype that he was against. Shame his career didn't pan out. Who knows what kind of great stories could have been told with his character?
I find it funny comparing his character with the Colter character and seeing how much has changed since Hassan was around. Hassan spoke out against being treated differently and was the heel. Now, Colter is a more xenophobic character and is the heel.

Wasn't his gimmick Racist? It was a twist to typical "anti-American" characters. Hassan was an Arab-American who had been wrongfully stereotyped by the American people after 9/11. He wasn't a terrorist, he was an American citizen angry at how he had been wrongfully trated. In a way he was the face and the fans were the heels for booing him when he spoke the truth. Then the WWE f***ed up and made him what he wasn't suppose to be, a terrorist. It always pissed me off that not only did they remove him from TV, but released him not long after. I get the guy was apart of the reason and wanted to leave after the backlash from the terrorist angle, but it was a shame to just get rid of the character they invested so much in. And it was UPN that made the most fuss, a channel that Vince McMahon could have bought if he wanted to. Either keep him on SmackDown, or if Vince didn't want to deal w/ UPN, move him back to Raw where there were much less restrictions on what could be done. The fact he was schedualed to face Batista at SummerSlam 2005 makes the decision to release him so much worse.

Him getting released was so much BS. It's a shame some people threw a fit over his character because he was drawing amazing heat.

Yes. My favorite heel since forever ago. The dude had so much heat and his character was so fleshed out.
