Morning everyone Now, this could be just me. As I'm assuming we all know, Main Event and SmackDown! are taped on Tuesdays. And WWE edits the crowd re-actions. On SmackDown!, it sounds incredibly fake and horrible. Watching Main Event, it sounds a hell of a lot better. Does WWE edit the crowd reactions on Main Event as well? And if they do, why not just use that to make the SmackDown! crowd sound more alive? I find it really hard to watch sometimes because the crowd is sitting there, you can see no one getting up and cheering, and there's this "cheering" going on. - One In Need Of Enlightenment

I normally don't watch Smackdown again if I go to the taping, but I would assume that they edit the crowd. Orton gets huge pops without the edit though. It sounds like a bunch of little girls screaming.
Edit: By the way that's a awesome A&8's sig.

No edit is worse than the Rock/Cena special that aired on NBC a few weeks after Mania. They edited out Cena's boos and it sounded like the arena almost fell when he came out. Then, when the Rock came out, they left the reaction alone and it sounded near silent compared to the massive pop they edited in for Cena.

The crowd edit that happens on smackdown annoys me so much...same with the boos.
Its the same old cheer everytime with the little kids and girls screaming...then for the boos, its always the same boo with that one guy who shouts something over the top and it always sounds the same its so annoying.
I mean, i used to actually think that the crowd cheered the same way everytime...then i realised as i read more into it they actually edit in the crowd. I'd honestly be more happier if they left it as it is.

One of the most annoying things this company does. I don't understand why they feel the need to fake crowd excitement. To me that is the most telling state of things. The live crowds are bored to tears with the bullcrap stuff they are tryig to pass off as "entertainment" but the TV audience is stupid and we'll believe that every time a big move is hit the same 256 people cheer "OOOHHH" the exact same way. It's incredibly insulting to our intelligence.

Can someone post a video of the edit crowd noises. I don't watch Smackdown or Main Event so I don't ever get to see it.

They used to use a clip of a man in a plastic Kane mask slowly taking pictures whenever they cut away from chair shots, on the Saturday Morning viewing of SmackDown over here in England.

My favourite edited fan reaction for SmackDown is when a heel comes out. The booing sounds like crows screeching.

Thats the exact reason why i dont watch Smackdown any more. When youre watching it, it just sounds SO artifical. The funny thing is when a face comes out like Sheamus, They show the crowd and edit in the hair dryer sounding cheer effect like the arena is going nuts, but you look in the crowd and there a couple people cheering and the rest are sitting calmly.

The first time I can remember noticing a crowd-edit was Royal Rumble 1992 - on the broadcast, the crowd was going nuts, cheering for Flair when he won, and cheering Sid for tossing Hogan out - when they showed the highlight on TV, there was some very fake boo-ing going on when Sid tossed Hogan out.

The fake crowd roar for pre taped shows is just awful, they've been using the exact same roar since the attitude days, you'd think they'd update it with a more convincing soundtrack. Total laziness.

In Jericho's second book he mentions WWE edits in crowd noise when they where in Japan. In Japan they don't cheer loudly like in the US. They are respectful and quiet.

Lol considering that i havent watched smackdown since the punk/hardy feud i wouldn't know. If i were to bring in a huge TNA or BENOIT sign and sit front row they would probably edit that out too right.

I think one guy rocked up to a SmackDown! taping in Florida in full on Hogan gear, and security made him wear jeans and a "Stand Up For WWE" T-Shirt. Those signs wouldn't make it past the door, unless you are incredibly lucky. Although last year I remember one guy wearing a ROH Shirt front row.
