I know Joker and I discussed this breifly in the X-Men thread but this is from Reynolds' mouth and I think it explains a lot in such a small amount of words. It's a very quick comment, but he flat out says he thinks the studio is holding it up because it's such a "hard R-rated" script.
The script is apparently amazing and laugh out loud funny. I haven't read it because I don't want to ruin anything but tons of fans have said this over-and-over already. They have the script, the director, and the star, but they just have to grow the balls to pull the trigger. I'm glad the writers and director will go to bat for making it the way it should be made though. It's been in hell for a long time now so I hope we finally see this happen.
Here is the interview (Deadpool comment at 4:30ish):

I reckon the game will be a hit, and to capitalise on the popularity, they'll ultimately decide to produce the film.

Reynolds needs to come back to Marvel after what DC put him through. Marvel will treat him right.

Reynolds is BORN to play this type of character; as long as it's done right. (AHEMMM Weapon XI)

This needs to be made with or without Reynolds.
In other news, Emma Stone is so much hotter as a red head. That blonde hair needs to go. It doesn't look good on her.

Fox never will.they will wring hands, tamper, tinker, fornicate, twitch, masturbate, fiddle, itch, interefere & procrastinate this movie into a "hard" PG 13. which sucks greasy bull stones.

It needs to happen and it needs to be R. R movies make big bucks all the time and this one would be no exception, as long as its well done. It doesn't even need to be some huge budget movie with crazy special effects.

I'm all for it, but I hope they nail the brilliant humour that Deadpool specialises in.

I hate Wesley Snipes-but he didnt spoil Blade I & II for me.those movies overcame his "crapheadyness" in III however it was to the fore.

Can't be any worse than their atrocious attempt at Deadpool they had in Wolverine. I mean, really?

Can't be any worse than their atrocious attempt at Deadpool they had in Wolverine. I mean, really? oh yes.....that was a new low.the shoehorning in of characters in that movie was dire. Deadpool & Blob being the worst examples.

Can't be any worse than their atrocious attempt at Deadpool they had in Wolverine. I mean, really? Had they done a real version of Deadpool instead of combining the attributes of the other mutants, specifically Cyclops' power, it would have saved Origins imo. Had they just given Wade Wilson, who I thought was the best part of that entire film, regenerative powers as the experiment and had him confront Wolverine and Sabertooth in a Deadpool costume I think people would generally look back on Wolverine Origins as a solid to good installment of the X-verse. They had some great elements when they used rough concepts of Alpha Team and Genosha, included Deadpool and Gambit, and we even see a young Storm if you watch the deleted scenes. All the right moving parts but just couldn't put them together.

All the right moving parts but just couldn't put them together. It had potential but they failed to deliver. Hope they learned from their mistakes and Avengers success and that they don't make the same mistakes again with the sequel. But you're right. Had they left Deadpool actually be Deadpool, then it's would have been better. Not great, but certainly better. Blob (as Joker said) was just awful. He should have been CGI. Scratch that, he should not have been used yet. IMO save him for a X-men or Magneto film.

yeah Blob was just squeezed in there for no reason whatsoever.......then you had so many peeps out of character.
I also wasnt a fan of Sabretooth in this movie......IMO they have still to do him justice.
