just want to know what people think about hasbro customs being sold on ebay. i only ask because i have been buying from a guy on ebay for a few years he sells hasbro customs moc (recent ones look like the actual thing) and they are always advertised as custom made, anyway ive had an email from him saying he might have to stop because another ebay member says he has reported him to wwe and ebay for copyright. Is this just jealousy because the figures have been selling for high amounts? i have no problem with anyone selling any customs, ive seen lots of hasbro, jakks, ljn and i think its a great hobby for people to have. does anybody have a problem with customs, if so why?

Unfortunately it does infringe on copyright laws. even though you are taking one character or multiple characters to make someone else. your still using the name and likeness of that new person which is owned by either wwe or the person.
Many customizers have run into this prob. The customizer will get shut down but I doubt wwe or person would ever spend thousands of dollars in court fees to take someone to court to get back the $10 to $100 back that a person made on a custom figure.

I think if they are being produced to be sold on for financial gain then you could run in to a bit of a problem if someone complains to ebay. I'd echo the sentiment that the WWE probably wouldn't be interested as it's small change really, but copyright is the issue as they are mirroring WWF Hasbro likeness.

kinda taking this thread a diff direction...even though I've been guilty of it in the past, even a good custom is destroying a hasbro, and there are a finite number of hasbros, in theory, one day we could run out of supply?
these days, I do dismantle some hasbro's but never use original components, I cast what I need as I need it...

It makes me really sad every time I see some poorly painted custom that "kind of" looks like whoever they were trying to make.. It's really just a ruined Hasbro. I don't have either set of Bushwhackers and would love to have them again. I don't care how common they are on eBay.. Same with The Rockers.. How many crappy Mick Foleys have to be made from Jim Duggans? I want a Jim Duggan how it was made originally, how I had it as a kid!

I only use damaged, broken and worn Hasbros for my customs. I wouldn't dream of making a custom out of a decent figure. I have bought a few of the Manix figures just for the heads but never Hasbros

I see some shockers on ebay, and if the only intention is to sell them for 2-5£ then the amount of effort isn't going to be up to much, and it prob' is a waste of figures that could be in collections. but as a hobby not matter what standard they come out to i'm all in favor, its a great way of personalizing your figure and doing something creative at the same time.
Who will do the first 'Fan-Dang-go' figure?
