Hey guys. I've been a Mac guy for years but from time to time I need to use a PC. For example, a lot of times I get sent things from my job that only run on a PC. Currently, I use a junky old PC I had before getting my Mac. However, I think it's seen the end of its days. I can't get it online anymore, the speakers are blown out, and the keyboard doesn't always work.
I was wondering if someone can recommend a laptop PC for me to buy. I'm only looking to spend like $500 at most. It's only gonna be used once in a while. I'd really only use it to fill out some online paperwork type stuff and some occasional gaming. I'm also still a big fan of Windows XP for PCs.
Basically, I'm looking for something cheap that wont give me problems. Screen size will be considered but doesn't really matter that much. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately the only PC laptops you can purchase on the market are Windows 8 PCs and Windows 8 isn't that great. I would have suggested since you're a mac guy that you get a macbook and run windows on it with bootcamp but given your budget I can see that is probably out of the question.
If you're okay with Windows 8 or putting in some time (money) to downgrade (upgrade) to Windows 7, any PC in the $400-$500 will do you just fine if you're doing work and want decent gaming performance. Some things I would recommend is at least an Intel i5 processor, at least 4 GB of RAM, and a dedicated graphics card (for gaming performance).

i would recommend a Toshiba or an HP personally. Also go to newegg.com and look around a bit and get a feel for prices and what they can offer you.

I found a lot of laptop online that run XP but its been so long since I bought a computer. I had forgotten what specs to look for.

Not sure exactly what you'll be using it for, but you should look into Parallels. It allows you to run Windows on your Mac. We use it at work for testing websites on IE. www.parallels.com

Also when I have in the window mode it tends to cut the screen when I turn it back to full screen.

Use VMWare Fusion or Parallels. Safari also lets you mimic IE, Chrome, Opera and Firefox through the develop menu.
