A company who makes kids toys making a toy of a child killer, yeah this should even be talked about. legacy stuff sure, but this shouldnt even be entertained by respectable people which I usually never really consider myself, until this moment.

Mattel should release a Ted Bundy figure too. You know they (not mattel) do make Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin figures too right? I would certainly rank those two higher up on the "done wrong" list then Benoit. As another user said those aren't kids toys. Also, the people that do buy the Hitler or Stalin figures, unless they are terrible people, don't glorify or excuse what they did. If they play with those figures I don't think they are having Hitler win World War 2 in their re-enactments. The people who would buy Benoit would put a World title on him. Now if a figure was going to come out of Nancy as Woman then I would buy that as she was one of my favorite women in the business.

I think if a Benoit figure were made as an internet exclusive, Mattel might be able to avoid some of the bad rap from it. I'm not saying it would completely eliminate the chance of it but look at this way; if it were an internet exclusive, you have to search and know about it to get it. It isn't going to be circulated around retail stores for kids to see in plain sight. Obviously this is not a sure fire way to make it ethical, but that is just my opinion and it would make a great number of collectors very happy, including myself.

I don't think it would sell well, because as it's been said, it would only be the collector market buying, and only half of the normal fanbase out of that would buy it. Personally, I have no problem remembering Chris Benoit. I'm not naive or stupid enough to think that he's the only person I have in wrestling figure form who's ever done something evil and spiteful... and if you believe popular opinion, he may not even be the only person I have in figure form who's murdered someone on purpose. The fact that Benoit was ill in his final days and committed a tragic act really doesn't dampen the fact that I have fond memories of watching him perform for me. There are always going to be actors, musicians, wrestlers, and other stars who's bodies of work I can appreciate, even while not liking that particular person as a human being. That said.. I find it hard to even hate Benoit, because if the guy truly was mentally ill to the point where he didn't understand what he was doing, I don't know how much I'd even be able to hold him responsible for his actions... and if he did kill his family, then have a moment of sanity... that's the kind of emotion I don't think any of us can comprehend. The whole tragedy sucks, and there's no doubt that Daniel and Nancy are the victims... but there's a strong likelihood that Chris was too.. and that's no less tragic. On topic, I would buy it IF it were something that appealed to me. Benoit in red Horsemen gear... Benoit in mid to late WCW... something that Jakks either didn't do, or didn't do well... that would have my attention, and I'd likely buy it. He's way down my list, though, as Jakks did a pretty solid job of covering the career of Chris Benoit through the years. Very well said. I'd buy it & display it proudly. The figure would be of Chris Benoit the wrestler. The character. Not Chris Benoit the man who committed an act of brutality that cannot be explained. I have a figure of Hawk, who willingly abused alcohol & got behind the wheel of a car, putting hundreds of lives @ risk. I have a figure of Undertaker who, in character, crucified people. I have a figure of Triple H who, also in character, fornicated w/ a mannequin that was supposed to represent a dead girl. The figures are of wrestlers in character. Not the people behind the character.

I would have Undertaker holding his head and standing over his corpse.

That still hasn't changed. Mattel and the WWE still CAN'T make an Owen figure without Martha's consent. She would still need to sign a Legends contract.
