Hey guys. I need some important advice. Up until December I was really struggling to find a job and desperate to get out of my waiter job. So I hired a professional resume writer to perform a bunch of services that would help me find a job. That was back in September. I spent $569 with them. The services were to include 4 different versions of my resume, a LinkedIn account, them passing my resume out to potential employers in their network, and sending follow up notes to people when I went on interviews they would get me.
One of their writers had been in contact with me about my new resume. She sent me a draft of a resume which looked fantastic. I approved it but never got a final draft. That took a little bit of time so I figured it would take a little while longer to do 4 final drafts.
In December I found a temp job, which I'm still at (on a side note: I just found out yesterday that I am approved to be hired full time, since they have been really impressed with me and told me that I'm the future of the company). So not only did I not need the services anymore, but I became too busy to follow up with them as to what was going on.
Anyway, it's April now and last week I contacted them about getting a refund since I still haven't received anything. They haven't responded to me so far. I contacted my credit card company today but they said that since the charge was more than 60 days ago, there's nothing they can do for me.
My question is, does anyone have any suggestions as to who I can contact? Will the police help? I basically got scammed out of almost $600 and that money makes a huge difference in my bank account right now since I'm kind of living paycheck to paycheck at the moment. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
