I always thought it was to do with the War, invading other countries or people always saying "America, the greatest god-damn country on Earth!" I haven't been to America so I don't know about that. I don't see the issue half the time. Or it could be when something happens in say Japan, no one pays attention to it, but when something happens in America, the whole world knows about it.

This is basically it. We go over kill their citizens and then act all offended when people question it or want revenge. It's called blow back. I'm not saying we deserve it but I'm also not saying we are innocent angels.

Because you hate Canada... Hate means I actually care. I'm indifferent towards Canada.

Our egocentrism. We only care about innocent people getting killed if it's on our soil.

Because since WWII, America has invaded countries like it's going out of style and currently has military bases in over 130 nations around the world. Countries don't respect being invaded. If the United States were to bring all military personnel home and completely open free trade, they would be the most respected nation in the world once again, as they were before.

I'm not saying we deserve it but I'm also not saying we are innocent angels. I personally think the largest portion of it is jealousy. However, You're also right on your accounts. Which is why Im completely OK with removing all military personal out of Foreign countries, refusing to send military, financial or materialistic aid to any foreign country. As well as refusing any military or financial assistance. Shutting off all American borders and not allowing anyone in unless they pass a STRICT test to become a citizen. Moving all jobs back to America, shutting off all import/exports from other countries and becoming a stand alone country. Everything we need to survive is within our own borders. While I honestly know there's no way in hell that will/could ever happen , I do think it would open a lot of eyes around the world on just how dependent some countries are on us. Rant over, Ill move along now cause I know the same 3-4 political gurus on the board won't like anything I said Im sure.

Simple question... I guess I just don't understand. Why do other countries HATE America? I don't think Hate is the right word, and by other countries I think you mean some countries and by some countries I think you mean some individuals in those countries. I've seen many people say hateful things about the U.K. doesn't mean everyone hates it.

If I asked everyone why they hated Brussels sprouts, I'm sure I'd get plenty of different answers. You can't ask such a generic thing and expect multiple similar replies.
Do I hate the USA? No. You made Disney World, that's enough for me.
Do I hate the stereotype of the fat, arrogant, ignorant American? Yeah, but I've only met a few.
Reasons why others may hate the USA off the top of my head (remember these are all stereotypes, so they apply to parts of the population but not necessarily yourself or even a majority):
1) You attacked them 2) Arrogance (e.g. "We won WWII for you guys!" No. We all won WWII. But if you're implying that the USA were the key factor in winning the war... again, no. It was quite clearly the USSR, but it seems that their hatred of the Soviet Union has prevented many Americans from admitting it.) 3) Ignorance (e.g. Republicans denying Global Warming, Bible Belt saying the world was created 3000 years ago etc.) 4) Self-centred (i.e. failure to learn about or take an interest in other cultures and ideas, often emphasised by the minute amount of Americans that own a passport.) 5) Republicans - the USA is one of, if not the most right wing 'liberal democracy' in the world today, and more right wing than most of Europe. If the Democrats stood in the UK, they would be considered right wing. If the Republicans stood, they would be considered nutjobs. The USA is just further right than everyone else, and people find it strange. Hence the hate for Bush, and the widespread love for Obama - finally, someone who doesn't seem crazy is in power.

Simple question... I guess I just don't understand. Why do other countries HATE America? 1. If your talking about past relations with other countries then it's mainly due to entangling alliances with other nations in order to obtain natural resources, economic support or supplies for our know personal interests which causes some to feel as though they really aren't interested in learning about their countries culture, customs, economic standpoint and political view on the world just for our own beneficial agenda on our end of the bargain. 2. In the past, invading other countries in order to increase our horizon through expansion to reach on the Pacific Ocean to have Manifest Destiny and become on of the strongest countries in the Western Hemisphere. If we stand true to George Washington's Fairwell Address, we would alteast have moderate relationships with most countries out there. But then again, without WWII we would still be in a Great Depression so...

I assumed the 'hatred' was for the people, not the country itself.
Personally I can understand why people don't like America or Americans, but I don't feel the same negativity. It could be due to jealousy partly, but a large portion has to do with ignorance and arrogance. The arrogance has probably come from deep patriotism in the USA, which ain't a bad thing, but many complain that they don't like it shoved down their throats. The ignorance comes from a lack of general knowledge in certain subject/topics, such as geography. But not everyone knows everything. Another thing is Americans get stereotyped often as fat, among other things. This comes from people who are often ignorant themselves. A reason for these things is bad press, and representation in the media. The hatred or dislike is probably because people blindly follow other's opinions, without really questioning it. A 'mob mentality' I suppose. I actually believe this is one of the reasons Cena initially got so unpopular, because it was the 'cool' thing to do, and people just got on the bandwagon.
I actually look past the negativity, and wouldn't mind living over there once I get a job, which actually is likely to happen.
