I remember my first phone, I have no idea why I had it as I could only phone me mum, dad and home and never really used it at all but now its what I use the most.
As for internet, that wasnt until I'd say 2001 that I started to use it but I wasnt on it daily like now. Hell I probably didnt use the internet personally till around 2003/4,

I had a cell phone from 2010 until last year and when the contract ran out I never renewed it. I have a landline and an iPod touch and that's good enough for me.

My nephew will be 7 and has a wii, iPod, and soon a 360 when I get it for him for his birthday. But his parents restrict what he can and can not do on those things. That's respectable. My girlfriend's 3 year old daughter has her old iPad, but everything is locked so she can't buy anything. All she gets to have on it are educational games. I work at Barnes & Noble and when a parent is looking at buying a nook for their kid, we always try to get them to set up password protected purchasing. Undoubtedly, when they don't set it up, they come back and ask us how, because the kid ran up a huge credit card bill buying games.

I got my first phone when I was 14. Probably started using the internet actively when I was 7 or 8.

I started using the internet around Grade 3 or 4. Most people I knew didn't really use it yet, just me and two of my friends pretty much. By Grade 6 everyone was on board.

It's scary to think we'll be the most mature generation to use the technology of the internet (who grew up during the "rise" of it). I'm 20, and I cannot believe what I see today. I literally see babies playing with iPads in restaurants and on the bus. I remember I got my GameBoy (that actually used AA batteries and could connect to the internet- as if wifi were even around, lol) when I was in third grade ~10 in 2001. But that's nothing compared to the ubiquity of the internet and internet accessing devices today. I got my first cell phone when I was 16, because I had to drive on the freeway to get to class.

I started using the net around 11 or 12. I didn't get my first cell phone until I was 20ish and I paid for it myself, bill included. Didn't have a tablet until last year. I'm almost 29
When I have kids I'll do my best to raise them as I was raised.

It's definitely a generational thing. For me, it seems sort of staggering because I belong to the twenty-something category that had the Internet throughout most of our school careers, and got into high school right as cell phone use was becoming the norm. I always felt like we were young to be using those things, and now it's much, much younger.
It's hard enough for me to believe that Facebook didn't start to become well-known until my senior year of high school, and even then, we all still gravitated toward MySpace.
As far as technology goes, my class was actually the guinea pigs in my state for Apple Laptops in the classroom. It was a burden, the teachers had no idea how to implement their use into their lesson plans, and the school pretty much considered it a failure. They continued it, though, and I'm sure it's developed quite nicely in time.
As far as cell phones, I got my first in high school. I think I was 15. I rarely used it. I didn't start getting into texting and whatnot until I was around 17.
