westchester.news12.com/search/world-grapples-with-rise-in-cyber-crime-1.5242549I was wondering if anyone saw this story or if it's just local news. Apparently, 8 men were caught as part of a worldwide cyber crime ring. 7 were arrested and one was found dead in the Dominican Republic. They hacked into people's credit/debit cards and all in a matter of hours, each one withdrew $2.8 million from various accounts. The scary part is that the two guys pictured in the article are two guys I actually see regularly and they have always seemed like normal guys. They usually give me a little wave when they see me and stuff. They were frequent customers where I used to work, and they work at a K-Mart by my house. They were stock guys there. I wouldn't be surprised if they were stealing merchandise as well. Anyway, I'm glad they got caught. I hate cheaters and scam artists. The part that i find both hilarious and disturbing is that I heard they would have gotten away with it if they didn't post that picture of them posing with the money the just stole on some form of social media. Also the kicker is that the word on the street is that they are probably going to be doing about 10 years in prison and they weren't even getting a lot of money. Apparently, their cut was only like $1,000-$2,000 each. Also, the one that was found dead was supposedly set up by the ringleader. The disturbing part is that the guys who got caught probably can't even rat out the ringleader, because they probably don't even know who it is.
