So with the rumors swirling, what do you guys think? Do you think we'll get a full season next year or not? It doesn't seem like BBC, Capaldi, Moffat or anyone are really sure. Turns out I asked a dumb question. No Doctor Who in 2016, just the Christmas special. Steven Moffat announced today he's stepping down from Doctor Who, and the creator or Broadchurch is taking his place. We'll get Moffat's final season in 2017, with the following season under the new runners (and one can assume new Doctor) in late 2018. . @blaze12341 Really sucks about no Doctor Who for the year. I feel like we're wasting time with Capaldi. I really enjoyed the first season of Broadchurch (haven't seen the second one yet) so hopefully that transfers over well. Hope Moffat goes out with a bang. Also, still need to watch the Christmas special.

Haven't been on here in a while, so I'll give my opinion on Moffat leaving and Chibnall taking over.
It's about time for some news! I am glad that they've finally sorted out the scheduling and got Doctor Who back in it's rightful Spring slot. They should never have messed it up in the first place. Sure, it's not exactly great that we now have a 16 month wait, but we have 'Class' coming in the Autumn, and it's worth being patient to get Doctor Who back where it belongs. Besides, we'll have filming photos throughout the year as they film to keep us going.
Not surprised at Moffat stepping down after Series 10. Fully expected it to be that way. Didn't expect Chris Chibnall to be appointed as his successor though. I just hope he knows what he's doing. Never knew he was involved with 'Life On Mars'. Love 'Broadchurch', so that's a plus, even if I've never ranked any of his Who episodes higher than an average. He did some damn good 'Torchwood' episodes though. And considering how much he's written for Captain Jack, here's to hoping we see a return under Chibnall.
For those yet to see, here's Matt Smith's and John Barrowman's reaction to Moffat stepping down and Chibnall stepping up:
And also, as someone recently pointed out, 2017 is going to be such a great year for Who/Sherlock/Broadchurch fans. We've got Sherlock Series 4, Doctor Who Series 10, Broadchurch Series 3, and if it gets a second series, Class Series 2. Pretty much something brilliant worth watching on all year round.
And also, for anyone who is interested, I just thought I'd share my recent video with you guys, a sort of flashback edit of Eleven's regeneration. I made two versions. Version 1 has the clips overlayed over the regeneration scene, to give the impression that the Doctor is thinking about it in his mind while giving his speech. Version 2 has the clip transitions in a more traditional flash transition, for those who might not like the clips overlayed on one another.

No more Doctor Who on US Netflix.
That's depressing as hell.

No more Doctor Who on US Netflix. That's depressing as hell. They removed it from Hulu as well. My little guy watched the classic episodes on there often. Needless to say, he didn't take the news well.

I don't know what prices are like in America, but I'd advise just buying the DVDs. At least then you won't be at the mercy of streaming services.

About $30 for the earlier seasons, a little more for Capaldi and we have to buy all of the specials separately, meaning not just the Christmas episodes but Tennant's regeneration(s), Smith's regeneration among others.

Are the series boxsets not exactly the same boxsets in America as they are in the UK? In the UK, the Series 2 boxset comes with 'The Christmas Invasion', the Series 3 boxset comes with 'The Runaway Bride' and so on. The only except to this is The Specials (which are a whole set of their own), and 'The Time Of The Doctor', which is only avaliable in the 'The Time Of The Doctor & Other Eleventh Doctor Christmas Specials' set. To price compare, each series boxset in the UK costs around about £12 (assuming you're buying on DVD rather than Blu-Ray), for Series 1-7. Series 8 and 9 are considerably higher. Besides, is the Series 1-7 Blu-Ray set not still available? I've read that it is even cheaper in America than most places in the UK, despite containing a whole new bonus disc and a universal remote in America. Over here the cheapest I could find it was £150, with most places charging close to or over £200. Of course buying all the boxsets is expensive in any case. But just think, if you had all of the boxsets, you'd be free to watch whatever episode you wanted to watch, whenever you wanted. Does that make it worth it?

Problem is I only really prefer watching certain arcs. To hell with filler episodes. Which was what made Netflix convenient. I've seen all of the episodes so I know which ones I like and would rewatch over and over. However no, our specials are all sold separately over here, Christmas and otherwise. As for the price, I was just talking DVD, I don't buy Blu-Ray even though I have a PS4, I don't care about the "higher definition and quality" for a substantially higher price, that's for any video not just Who.

Doctor Who is now fully available on Amazon Instant Video if anyone has that.

There's a few hummings going about. Capaldi let slip (no surprise) at a convention in Mexico a few weeks ago that the next companion is a woman. The humming is that the companion could be: Missy I'm completely on board with that. After the first arc of last season, Capaldi showed that anything could work.

JP since you're the only living Who fan left it seems, we have our companion. You watch the trailer yet? Nice to see a relatively unknown.

It's a photoshop, but still...NO. NO. NEVER. NO. bad guy™He'd make a fantastic Santauron. He's said before actually that he'd love a two episode go on Who, if they could ever work out a contract similar to what they did with Maisie I wouldn't be opposed to a guest star role; even you'd have to find that cool.

Oh yeah - maybe a guest role as the companion's Dad or something. But as the man himself? No way.

Mainly because no one's been able to talk them into a black Doctor yet.
