I'm tired of WWE. All it is now is videos and self promotion, and only a couple of minutes of wrestling. Agreed they have really taking it a step too far. Imagine the DVDs released in the future about someone's career (ex Zigglers) all your going to hear is about the WWE app...

I'm tired of WWE. All it is now is videos and self promotion, and only a couple of minutes of wrestling. You are not the only one. Sadly, I feel the same way too even though I hate to admit it. They have been too focused on promoting themselves with the Make A Wish, Be A Star, Susan G Komen etc etc and now with the WWE App. So much so that the quality of the storylines they have now is just low quality and not up to standard as they were before. Plenty of misdirections as they clearly do not know which direction to take for the WWE Championship and in particular John Cena and some of the other superstars as well.... And yes, very obvious that their way of promoting of the WWE App went overkill on RAW this week. And I fear it will be the same in the coming weeks and months. Its ok to mention it once or twice, but the way it was handled was just too much.

Didn't they do the same thing when WWF.com first came out? They promote the hell out of it until they know everyone and their brother is using it then promoting it starts to die out and it becomes less annoying.

I can understand why they are doing it and how it can be effective but it seems very bizarre that out of nowhere it instantly got such a hype on the show unlike past weeks. Its like they only just realised or started to care about it. For me personally, I found it annoying.

Worst part for me is that I'm on the West coast, not able to see the show live, so the app is completely useless to me as far as I can tell, but I'm still subjected to the freaking constant barrage of app promotion. And, yeah, definitely weird that they want us to stop watching what's on Raw to watch stuff on the app.

Well I watch raw on record cos I ain't staying up and missing out on beautiful sleep so the app useless to me and I wish they would tell the commentators to maybe stop mentioning it every time they speak.

Like OTE said, the only thing that really got to me was trying to get me to watch something on my phone, while a match is going on.
I understand it's a business, and while it's called Sports Entertainment, the 2nd W in WWE still stands for Wrestling. And with how much time is taken away from matches already, why direct attention elsewhere?

I feel like I remember this with ShopZone more so than WWF.com Although, WWF.com was on the ing tron so I see your point.

I noticed they mentioned it a lot, but it's not going to ruin my enjoyment of the show...

If WWE put 50% of the effort into the quality of their storylines that they put into self-promotion, on-screen PR segments, pop culture references and social media acknowledgements; the product would be amazing.
To be honest, I'm not even sure Vince is the problem at this point. I think the WWE surely have gotten some corporate suits in the positions just under Vince on the corporate ladder and are feeding him information about why doing this and that would be good for business. The problem is that these people have no idea about the uniqueness of professional wrestling. And that's why all the focus is on the wrong stuff. They put more effort into corporate relations than their ACTUAL product. I personally think this has been happening since about 2007, but only been shown actively on screen since 2012.
I've been a WWE fan for 16 years, but their lackadaisical booking deserves to be punished. I'd love to see TNA put them out of business, for better or worse.. it just feels like they've kinda sold their soul to pop culture and forgotten about the actual reason they are there - wrestling.

Yes it's ing annoying, especially when they're even having Teddy Long use it in promos, it's too much.

The WWE is really far from cool these days. Pushing all these apps and crap reminds me of a dad making a Facebook page or something. Hey, my dad is on Facebook, so I know what I'm talking about. But he doesn't want to be "friends" with me but he is with my brother - should I be worried? One thing I like better about TNA is they don't constantly push this stuff on us. They do a little bit, but the WWE is out of control. Can this social networking just be done with already? Or is it only going to get worse?

Welcome to social media. Companies promote their app, twitter, facebook and youtube accounts like the NBA, UFC, NFL, NHL, MLB etc. WWE isn't the first company to do this and won't be the last.
This isn't different to when WWE promoted the hell out of WWF on AOL and the Superstar line every RAW and PPV during the mid to late-90s. Also they promoted WWF.com and Shopzone all the time. Hell even WWF.com was attached to the titantron right above the entrance.
