Did anyone ever watch this fantastic series? I bought series 1,2 and 3 on dvd ages ago and im currently re-watching them again. Just an awesome show that was so well done, all the actors were terrific especially Ian McShane and the guy who played EB farnhum. Its just a pity HBO pulled the plug on it, from what i read the ratings werent justifying the productions costs even though it did well.

It along with the Sopranos are two shows I've always wanted to get into but have yet to try. Maybe once I get extra money I'll look for it used on DVD.

Amazing series. Such excellent acting. And I like how random actors from this show end up on other shows I watch. Ellsworth was Bobby on "Supernatural", Charlie Utter & Rev. Smith were on "Sons Of Anarchy", and I could not believe that Doc Cochran was Grima Wormtongue in Lord Of The Rings!

I had watched the first season and loved it, but never watched the rest of the series. I'll have to see those episodes at one point. I remember when I found out that Dan, was the brother in Something About Mary, I was so surprised. Talk about complete opposite in characters. And Ian McShane did an amazing job playing Swearengen. When you look up stuff about Swearengen, he really was the SOB that he's portrayed in the show.

From reading up on Deadwood and its history, apparently swearengen ended up broke and was found dead in an alley somewhere. Dunno if this is accurate maybe someone can confirm. There was also a fire from that time that broke out and destroyed the town, that would have been awesome tv if they had the chance to do it. i hate HBO for not renewing this series.

One of the best things ever put on TV. Al Swearengen IMO is the best tv character ever.
If you wanna get into it, get ready to be left broken hearted because there is no ending. They left it out thinking they had another year/a movie and it never happen.
If you wanna punch kittens, read up about the movies after watch it.

I tried to get into it but felt their reason for the language was stupid and very off putting for the type of series.

I loved the first 2 seasons, but for the life of me couldn't get through the 3rd. Eventually I'll probably get through it. But I agree with previous statements, Swearengen was amazing. I'll never forget watching someone interview him in a video blog, & the first question the host asked was, "So, what's up c*** s*cker?" I nearly died of laugher.
