'Taker will always be willing to lose if Vince desires. I just doubt that Vince will ever ask him to lose at WM.

I just rewatched Summerslam 2003 and the Elimination Chamber...... man that was a booking travesty.a barely mobile HHH retains and Goldberg is annihilated in front of his home town. travesty. I see the outcome as a bait and we don't deliver what your ordered. Comparatively, its like saying ordering a large pizza pie and only getting home fries. Its all about buyrates to McMahon and the WWE. Unforgiven 2003 saw 60,000 more buys then Unforgiven 2002 (360,000 vs. 300,000 respectively). They lured people to order Unforgiven and deliver what people wanted. This is a simple business tactic the WWE normally follows. While seeing Triple H retain the World Heavyweight Championship left a bad taste in the mouths of many, the WWE lured you for your money, they didn't deliver, and made you order another PPV to see Goldberg win the strap. Goldberg signing with the WWE was one of those good for business signings. The E gave us a dream match at Backlash between The Rock & Goldberg. While it didn't do much to number of buys (2003 got 345,00 buys vs the 400,000 buys 2002 got). A few months elapsed and gave us Triple & vs. Goldberg at Unforgiven. Then six-months later, gave us Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg at WrestleMania XX. At the time, 'Mania XX was touted as a success due to getting 325,000 more buys comparative to the disappointing buyrate 'Mania XIX got (560,000 buys). I doubt Goldberg had a clause in his contract where it was mandatory for him to win a world title in the WWE. As cordless mentioned that Goldberg came to the WWE for the fans. As far as Goldberg in the wrestling industry is concerned, his football career died and he needed another avenue to make a living. Who would blame Goldberg in this scenario? He enrolled himself into the PowerPlant, received training, and the rest is history. I have to respect Goldberg because its rare you hear him badmouth anybody and he made an impact in WCW. In the future, I would love to see Goldberg be industed in the WWE Hall of Fame. Goldberg's accolades in wrestling speaks for itself.

XIX got that few buys? It was an incredible event.

XIX got that few buys? It was an incredible event. The WWE was extremely disappointed with the amount of buys WrestleMania XIX got. This was the lowest amount since the 237,000 buys 'Mania 13 received.

I have always liked Goldberg too.I realise the tactic behind Summerslam 2003 and that their plan worked but in reality Goldberg looked bad.

I have always liked Goldberg too.I realise the tactic behind Summerslam 2003 and that their plan worked but in reality Goldberg looked bad. Yes the WWE is a business and in it for the money, but the Goldberg move at SummerSlam was just dumb. It was all about ego and making sure that fans knew the WWE was superior to WCW. HHH had already gone through every single face on the Raw roster before meeting Goldberg. RVD, Kane, Michaels, Steiner, Booker T, and Nash had all put over HHH since he was handed the World Title. Goldberg's character was that of an unstoppable monster who always won on his first try. He defeated both Raven and Hogan on his first tries to win titles. He defeated Rocky on his first try. WWE basically committed the same mistakes WCW did with Goldberg by having him lose at the wrong time. By having him lose his first match way too soon in WCW and the WWE, he lost a ton of momentum and never really recovered. Add to the fact that HHH was legitimately hated for hogging Raw's main event scene at the time and could barely walk due to multiple injuries when he went over Goldberg, and that ended up being one of the worst decisions ever IMO. And the WWE wonders why Goldberg didn't draw better than he did...
