I've been an avid collector of the basic line since day one. The only times I have touched the Elite sets were for the build-a-figures and then I would just re-sell the figures. However, I was on a recent vacation and stumbled across Elite series 20 at Target. For some reason, Chris Jericho just screamed "Buy me". Well, since that purchase less than 3 weeks ago, I now own E17 Kofi, E18 Brodus, E19 D-Bryan, E20 Punk, E20 Y2J, E20 Rhodes, E21 HTM, E21 Ryback, and Taker 20-0.
I'm not planning on collecting every Elite figure that comes out and I am I still a basic collector first, but I will certainly be adding some Elites to my collection from now on.
Just thought I would share this little story with everyone....Not really sure why. lol

Elites are just awesome. Amazing action figures. Its about time we got fully articulated figures that are actually scale and highly detailed. Basics are good as well but I've found myself becoming an elite nut!

Basics are .. well .. too basic for me. Different strokes for different folks.
I was bitten by the Elite bug and went crazy buying a bunch of them, but I'm trying to settle into only buying the ones that I really, *really* want.... at least until my son gets a little older. Then I'll go crazy buying Elites for him. haha

You will never look back, they are not just the best wrestling figures ever made IMO but some of the best figures period of any brand. I remember stubbling on these before I starting collection figs again and I could not believe the detail on them. Only bad thing for you is once these things leave retail they are impossible to find for a decent price and there is so many characters that you will look back on from older sets and probably want badly.

Nah, I'm okay without going back and getting the ones I missed. My basic collection is close to complete and will do just fine for me. But, I will probably pick a few Elites up here and there at retail. As stated in the original post, I'm still a basic first collector. They take priority. But, I will no longer ignore the Elites as I have done in the past. With the Elites, I don't feel the need to have every single figure that has come out like the basic line. I'm just going to cherry pick the figures that I enjoy. As of now, really only looking to add Wade Barrett, Sin Cara, Brock Lesnar, Dolph Ziggler, and Kane to my collection. There are a few in the upcomming sets that I will be getting a well like Bruno and the Shield.

I was bitten by the elite bug after I got my very first elite, RSC Kane (with removable mask). I was a long time Jakks collector before hand but once I got that elite Kane, I was hooked. I thought the accessories were epic. Then, I got more and more.
I have about over 30 elites since January 2012. I was just addicted to them.
I barely get basics unless they really persuade me, such as:
- B18 Punk - B29 Punk - B28 Sandow - Survivor Series Heritage Rock & Chris Masters - DX 2-Pack - B25 Brock - Battle Packs Punk & Savage - B25 Otunga (Because I don't know how soon we'll get an elite of him) - Wrestlemania Heritage Stone Cold

I have a fig fed so the basic articulation does no good to me playability wise. But I must say I think most of the Elites have better attires then their basic counter parts.

I've loved them both. Too many positives for each to ignore one over the other. Some of the attires choices have been better in the basic line, and the basic D-Bry/Punk/Miz etc. torso is better than the Elite version.

I like both...Sometime it is not worth paying the extra money just for the attire or accessories of an elite figure....lol

I love Elite figures!! They are the best, but some basics are hard to pass up.

I have tried collecting just basics before due to costs and thats all we get in stores in Australia, but then you see the new Elite series previewed at Ringside Fest or another convention and it's impossible to pass on them.

I buy both. There's pros and cons to each. Some of the basics of late have been amazing. There's a reason they're the #1 selling action figure line.

Elites are the way to go in my opinion. I only buy Basics of people who haven't gotten Elites. It's such a shame that some people didn't get them. People like Carlito, Hurricane and Chris Masters would have really looked awesome as Elites.

Yeah the bug got me too. When Jakks lost his right to make WWE figures I was bum out. I was a huge fan of the classic superstars series. Pretty much have every set expect the last few when Jakks looked like they just gave up. But then around Elite 17 and Zack Ryder, since being from Long Island and having my friend's little brother all good friends with him I decide for Christmas to get that figure. And since then I have been collecting Elite. It was easy at first because I said I would only buy elite that I really wanted or who I don't have Jakks figures of. Well now is about that time where 90% of the figures being made weren't made by Jakks. Then I said I'll get one of every wrestler. Unlike Jakks where I bought every Cena, HHH, or Orton, I was going to hold off on doubles, but now that Kane or Bryan are getting new scans its hard to stay to that. Well probably sell off the older ones. Well that is my Elite bug story.

Elites were the reason I started collecting again. Between the articulation, the shiny belts and the flashbacks I just couldn't help myself. Mattel knocked it out of the park with a lot of the Basic figures though. Some of them are so worth the money.
