i have no problem with kanye, but the degree to which people try and overhype him is ridiculous. just look at rolling stone's review, as if they someone can still relevantly consider the musical landscape:
Yeezus is the darkest, most extreme music Kanye has ever cooked up, an extravagantly abrasive album full of grinding electro, pummeling minimalist hip-hop, drone-y wooz and industrial gear-grind. Every mad genius has to make a record like this at least once in his career--at its nastiest, his makes Kid A or In Utero or Trans all look like Bruno Mars.
...what?! makes kid a or in utero look like bruno mars? how much more overyhyped can you make an artist, he's literally all hype.

I've come to notice it's a viscous cycle with Kanye. His die hard fans (and a lot of critics as well) genuinely believe he's the greatest thing to ever happen to music, so those on the outside are dismissive toward their attitude and thus, his music. Then those who aren't die-hard fans, but just appreciate what he does, get lumped in with the crazies who get defensive and resort to insulting individuals that don't feel the same way they do. If you want examples of this, take a look at the thread on the Absolutepunk forums. It's digusting. Staff members essentially telling fellow members that their opinions are irrelevant because they don't firmly believe this is the best record of the year. These comments were being made when the record had been leaked for less than 24 hours. How can anyone even make that assertion after less than a day with a piece of work?

I dig it! It's not as catchy nor does it have the hooks of his earlier work, but the production is still top notch.

New Slaves or GTFO I really Love That song as for the rest of the album I'm still getting use to it. But overall i love this album and I'm sure this is as close we are to getting an old Kanye.
P.s He still has unable to top through the Wire!

I agree. Disgrace to the culture of Hip-Hop How could Kanye be a disgrace to a culture like this? That was a extremely ignorant post. Lil' Wayne has NEVER been an emcee or considered part of Hip-Hop, "Rap is something you do, Hip-Hop is something you live" there is a huge difference. Rap is a certain genre of music that's been around forever but a lot different then Hip-Hop. A rapper really only raps for the money and not the people, expression, etc. Rap is a genre full of rappers like Lil' Wayne, Tyga, etc. Hip-Hop has always been a lot more then just music. Africa Bambataa came up with the elements of Hip-Hop and was worthy to considering he helped create it with the like of Grandmaster Flash, Kool Herc, etc in the 70s. The are DJing, MCing, B-Boying (Break Dancing), Grafiti Art, Fashion, Beatboxing, Slang, Knowledge, and Entrepreneurism. Hip-Hop has always been a kind of lifestyle and Hip-Hop music has mostly died off since the mid 2000's. Emcees like Rakim, De La Soul, Ice-T, etc have been replaced with rappers like Drake, Wale, Lil' Wayne, etc. Kanye was a good emcee, but he's turned pretty bad in his recent years. So please, let's not try to insult by trying to tell me that what you're talking about has anything to do with Hip-Hop, because it doesn't, it's just crapty rap music.

The same people who hate on Kanye are the people who drive around blasting the garbage mainstream hip hpp that is out today. Some people are so mindnumbingly blind when it comes to mmusic. Especially rap.. when I was a kid a was HUGE into music and would buy albums very frequently. Well in 04 the day the college dropout dropped I had to buy it, now I didn't know much about Kanye at the time I just liked the singles he was releasing. Low and behold I listened to that album from top to finish and Kanye instantly became my favorite rapper, and still is to this day. The man is a brilliant musician and he is the top hip hop producer of our generation if not all damn time. Innovation is what this man is all about. He does things that NO ONE has ever heard before and ends up setting example for all other rappers. As someone said earlier in a years time EVERY single mainstream rapper will be trying to replicate the sound of Yezzus. And that's how its been with every other one of his past albums.
I bought Yezzus the day it released just like I've done with every other Kanye solo album. And though its not his best work. It is very very creative and pretty much a musical acid trip. Kanye still has his classic flow and has a few really good verses. My suggestion is to buy the album now if you want to know what all hip hop will sound like in the near future.

I think Kanye is trying to seperate from Hip-Hop, I guess he doesnt want to be branded as just a rapper. This by far is Kanye's best album, its a completely new sound that none of us have probably ever heard. Kanye is paving the way for future artists similar to him. The beats themselves are incredible and very different. Like it or not you have to accept this is going to be a popular sound in the future. On Sight, Black Skinhead, New Slaves, Send It Up and Bound 2 where just amazing tracks. I love the sound to this album.

I believe Kanye has been referring to himself as a "Black New Wave" artist in recent months. I'm not sure if he's means that in a serious way, or it's just Kanye being Kanye.

How i feel also. I had to completely forget about Kanye the person and focus on Kanye the rapper for this CD and it made it great. I cannot stand him as a person but this CD is great every listen i give it.

Yeezus is an incredible record up and down, but I can't think of anything else to say cause the ridiculously ignorant rap opinions on here have caused me to have an aneurysm and now I'm posting from beyond the beyonds. RIP me.

Another postmortem thought: who cares if Kanye the person is a dick? You don't have to hang out with him to listen to his records.

He's a rap...uh, hip-hop...elitist that only listens to rappers from the '90s. Oh crap, I just called Biggie Smalls and Tupac rappers. I'm going to hell. And by the way, MC Micco, hip-hop is a music genre, too. And it's also known as, get this, RAP MUSIC.
