From TMZ: James Gandolfini -- who famously played Tony Soprano on "The Sopranos" -- died earlier today in Italy ... TMZ has learned. Gandolfini is believed to have suffered a heart attack. He was 51. Gandolfini was in Italy to attend the 59th Taormina Film Festival in Sicily -- and he was scheduled to participate in a festival event this weekend with Italian director Gabriele Muccino. Gandolfini shot to fame playing a hitman in the 1993 hit "True Romance" ... and quickly became a Hollywood legend when he was cast as Tony Soprano in 1999. He won 3 Emmy awards for the role during the show's 6 season run. Gandolfini also appeared in a ton of huge movies including "Get Shorty," "The Mexican" and "Zero Dark Thirty." We last spoke to Gandolfini last month in L.A. -- he was in great spirits, making funny faces and joking about a "Sopranos" movie. www.tmz.com/2013/06/19/james-gandolfini-dead-dies-italy/

I've told people "Welcome To The Rileys" is a great movie and I still believe people should watch it for Gandolfini. He was great in it. I loved Tony Soprano and this is such sad news. R.I.P.

51 is WAY too young. If this isn't motivation to be healthy and exercise i don't know what is.
Still, RIP to the guy. Tony Soprano was an icon.

This is one of those celebrity deaths that's a real surprise. I never really watched The Soprano's, but I've seen him act in other things and he was always very impressive. It's such a shame that he died so young.

Sad news to me. I love the Sopranos, the Tony Soprano character, and Gandolfini. Great TV show, was just voted as the Best of all time by the Writers Guild of America, and of course is highly regarded by nearly every other respectable source.
He became a TV Icon for that character. Sucks. Always held out hope that David Chase would need some money/work someday and they would make a movie or something. RIP. Young daughter he is leaving behind too.

Completely heartbroken, The Sopranos was the first real drama TV I got into and loved, he personally is one of all-time favorites in acting and I just truly can't believe this..... RIP James Gandolfini, the best actor on screen and most underrated actor as well. Worst part is he left a young daughter who was born October of 2012, she'll never get to grow up with him..... I'm beyond devastated.
