I prefer close mouthed face scans usually, but there are a few exceptions. The Elite Mark Henry with his open mouth scan looks great. I also prefer the angry open mouth Big Show to any of his others, particularly the smiling Big Show scan they used for over a year. Ultimate Warrior looks better with the screaming scan. I know Mattel hasn't made a Sid Vicious, but Toybiz really hit it perfect with their screaming scan of him. I'm not a fan of any of the screaming HHH or Kurt Angle scans I've seen. And I'm neutral on the Savage scans as both look good, but his open mouth scan is more of a teeth grinding angry look than a screaming look.
I'm happy for the most part with Mattel's choices for scans. Jakks went crazy with their scans for a while. It seemed like they produced a LOT of figures with a catching flies screaming mouth.

Mattel's 'plain' sculpts are beyond plain. They have no concept of how to knit someones brow to make them at least look serious or tough. So few figures have the eyebrows turned in. It's like people are saying about Ryback, details are great on his face but he looks like he was bored when they scanned him. At least most of the screaming or smiling scans have character.

Although I like the new sheamus scan, he's begging for a screaming scan. I agree that ryback needs one too. They can't use the current one forever and what other expression would be appropriate. He's an intense, angry guy. It's a no brainer. I don't think they should have a guy screaming just for the heck of it. If a guy has a signature expression or a personality that can be illustrated with the scan, that's what Mattel should be considering.

Always hate screaming head sculpts, more neutral works for me.

Love screaming and plain headsculpts. But I HATE smiling ones. Big Show and R Truths old ones haunt me!
