well, I just came down with the stomach flu and had to call in sick..
I'm the lone courier at my office, so I have a big responsibility at the office and I feel like crap taking the day off
I was curious as to how many days you have taken sick from work in the past year and did you feel terrible about it?

I never feel bad about taking sick days. With me if I take sick days, I'm really sick. I'm in my bed passed out and feeling miserable. I work with people who wake up one day, decide they don't want to go to work so they call in. I hate that crap and never do that. My philosophy is that if I'm sick enough to go to the doc I'm sick enough to call in. I don't feel bad about it either. I'm sick. I'm taking care of myself. Deal w/it.
Vacation time I do feel bad about taking though. I'm healthy. I'm off enjoying myself and I'm leaving people in the lurch. So I never take vacation time unless I absolutely have to for some sort of family wedding/funeral/reunion usually. Consequently I've been at my job a little over a year and have over 100 hrs of vacation saved up and a boss griping at me to take some time off. **Le sigh**

I have been at my current job for four years this October. I've taken two sick days, left early once, missed one because my mother was in the hospital, missed two for a funeral, and one for a wedding. That is all.

I don't take many sick days. Pretty much only if I'm vomiting, have a fever, or don't feel like it's safe to drive feeling how I do.
I hate doing it. I work retail and we're pretty short staffed at the moment. So, if anyone calls out, it puts the entire store in a bind.
We do get sick days to use though. You can't feel too bad about it when they give you days to use.

Sick days are there for a reason, so don't feel bad about it.

I've been at my job since April 18, 2012
Ive taken one sick day since then because I just simply needed a "mental health day". My job can be quite stressful and I just needed a day off.

I don't take many sick days and I do kinda feel bad when I do, but at the same time I'd feel worse if I got people sick at work.

Always feel guilty in some sort of strange way despite it not being my fault, I know for a fact some colleagues take the piss and just call in sick for the fun of it so I really shouldn't.

This is the type of sick day that drives me nuts. If I called in every time I didn't want to come to work I'd never be there. Schedule a vacation if you're burned out.

I so rarely call out sick, that it really doesn't make me feel bad when I do. Over the past three years or so, I've called out 3 times. One I wasn't feeling well, and the other two was after having a wisdom tooth pulled.

I rarely call in sick, like the OP, I have a lot of responsibility at my job so it puts a lot of pressure on the company to move things around.
I do have two weeks off in September though, but that's annual leave.

Technically, Ive never called in sick in almost 15 years....There was 3 days I missed work and I guess you can say I "called in sick" but I was also in ICU so its not like I was just laying out or "didnt feel good" hell, i even worked an entire 9hr shift before they put me in ICU haha. I also when though school K-12 with perfect attendance.....College is a different story though

Only twice and I've been working at this job for a year. Neither times I was genuinely sick though. The first time was because my car was stuck in the snow, plus most roads were closed too, and the second time was a present for myself because it was the day before my birthday. I see no harm in calling in sick for no good reason once or twice but if you make a habit out of it you're being stupid and selfish.

My job really screws people over. You get 1 day off earned for each month you work. So you get 12 days for the year. If you call off for being sick, you must have a doctor's note. The first time you don't, it's a write up. The second, you're terminated. Its absolutely ridiculous. I'm more than capable of taking care of myself when I'm sick. On top of that, it's costing me money to go to the doctor. My job has no health care insurance.

My job requires me to be there everyday and stuff piles up when Im not there. I didnt take a day off for the first 13 months I was there and I was getting burned out after 8 months. I arranged to use 2 vacation days next week and I hope I can still keep up with what I missed when I come back.
Also, on 2 days, the company sent me out to take a Microsoft Access class and I was docked 2 personal/sick days for it. As a result, I had to come in sick on a couple of days.

so far I've had 4/5 in the past month. I had a really bad stomach bug luckly my rota had me off for most of the week so I only had to take 2 days. and then it happened again this past week, 10x worse than the other week, I ended up in hospital because the doctors thought it could be appendicitis, they gave me the option to either take some meds, or have me in to do tests, I took the meds and went home, they said if the pain got any worse I had to go back in, the next day the pain was worse so I called and they got me an emergency apointment with the doctor who told me that (based on the place i was in pain) it wasn't an apendix issue it was Gastroenteritis which is basically something to do with your stomach and lower intestine.
it usually only lasts for about 2 days, but can last up to 10, I had it for about 6 days because the meds they had me on made me feel worse, so i just had to sit it out and over look the pain.
