Premise: All of these guys are/will be HOF worthy. Your job is to place them into 1 of 3 categories - Greatest of All Time (1), World Class Performers (2) and High Level Superstars (3). Take into account their abilities at every facet of wrestling i.e. technical ability, mic work, superstar appeal etc., as well as the era they were in - would they have fared better or worse in another era? e.g. would Orton have fared better or worse if he had started out 10 years earlier, and how does that affect your rating of him? Obviously they are to an extent incomparable but try nonetheless. The tiers don't have to be in order; its hard enough separating them into 3 groups as it is. If its a guy that is still going, think of where they will realistically be when they retire, although most guys still going listed here have likely reached their peaks anyway. I've also kept it to mostly North American guys, as I know few others.
The list: (feel free to suggest other top level names, I'm sure I've forgotten a few)
Bruno Sammartino Hulk Hogan Roddy Piper Randy Savage Ricky Steamboat Ultimate Warrior Andre the Giant Sting Ric Flair Undertaker Bret Hart Shawn Michaels Steve Austin The Rock Triple H Kurt Angle Chris Jericho John Cena Randy Orton CM Punk
My list:
Greatest of All Time
Hulk Hogan The Rock Steve Austin John Cena Shawn Michaels Undertaker Bret Hart Ric Flair
World Class Performers
Bruno Sammartino Kurt Angle Randy Savage Sting Triple H
High Level Superstars
Roddy Piper Ultimate Warrior Andre the Giant Ricky Steamboat Chris Jericho Randy Orton CM Punk

Very high estimation of him.

Greatest of All Time
- Sammartino - Hogan - Flair - Bret Hart - Undertaker - Steve Austin - The Rock - Sting - Kurt Angle
World Class Performers
- Andre the Giant (for his aura, mass appeal, and the way he was booked as an unstoppable giant for years/ if he could actually wrestle I'd put him in the GOAT list) - HBK - Randy Savage - Roddy Piper - John Cena - Triple H
High Level Superstars
- Ultimate Warrior - Ricky Steamboat - Chris Jericho - Randy Orton - CM Punk
I think Orton and Punk are no where near the rest of the guys on the list. Yes, they are good performers but they still lack that all around appeal that the rest of the guys on here have. CM Punk especially. I enjoy him but he still sometimes screams "indy wrestler" to me. He doesn't have the mass appeal or name recognition like the rest do. Even during his year long title reign he was portrayed as a distant second to Cena. Both somewhat overrated to me. To some adding Edge, I'd put him in the same category as Orton and Punk, and I enjoyed Edge too but his retirement has made people ovarrate him as well IMO. Jericho started to get popular during the end of the 90s boom and was a big name in the early 00s for the WWF so I would put him above Orton and Punk.
If Andrea could wrestle better I'd put him in the GOAT because of his huge mass appeal. Now Hogan wasn't anything great in the ring but he could structure a match, could sell, and his mass appeal to non-wrestling fans and "Hulkamania" run put him in the top 3 of all time. HBK was never a big draw (proven by 1996) and didn't have the mass appeal of the other two top guys at the time (Hart and Taker). Taker and Hart kept the WWF afloat literally by themselves during 93-96.

I disagree that HBK was never a big draw. 96 etc. is debatable, but in his second run he was a huge draw, even if his purpose was only to put on great matches with younger talent. You can argue all you want about 96 but 10 years later he was an undeniable draw imo, even if he refused to have the title.

Even during his second run he wasn't a huge draw like others before him. The WWE's ratings were still falling from the high of the Attitude Era and just like everyone else in the company he wasn't changing that. Yeah he was pushed hard on Raw but its not like he or anyone else at the time were changing the ratings much. Shawn was never a draw like Hogan, Bret, Austin, Rock, Taker, etc... were (Bret carried the WWF during a terrible down time and is arguably the greatest draw outside the US). The WWF almost went under in 1996 under his watch and his ego was a part of that. During his second run he also didn't affect ratings much and while one of the better drawing guys of the late 00s, that's not saying much. And this is coming from an HBK fan.

Nah ofc its fine but I'm surprised you put him above Flair, Savage and Sammartino, and on the same level as HBK, Hogan and Cena. Very high estimation of him. Edge had it all: Ring skills, mic skills, charisma, an amazing gimmick, lots of memorable matches (no matter if 1999 or in the late 2000s) and unlike Hogan he didn't have to politic his way to the top.

Based off of only the 20 Legends on the original list:
Greatest Of All Time This is my Top 5, which is really 6, because of the tie at second and the tie at fifth. 1. Chris Jericho 2. Steve Austin 2. The Rock 4. Kurt Angle 5. Ric Flair 5. Hulk Hogan
World Class Performers / High Level SuperStars I categorize World Class Performers and High Level SuperStars together, in alphabetical order. Andre the Giant Bret Hart Bruno Sammartino CM Punk John Cena Randy Orton Randy Savage Ricky Steamboat Roddy Piper Shawn Michaels Sting Triple H Ultimate Warrior Undertaker

Im also a big fan of how Austin is making everyones GOAT list.good stuff.... How could he not? He was a huge star in the greatest era of the greatest ever wrestling company, and was involved in 2 of the top 5 rivalries of all time (vs. Rock and McMahon). I'm surprised how few GOAT lists HBK makes. I know a lot of people don't like him but imo he's at the very top in whatever category you want - superstar appeal, technical ability and mic work.

HBK is just one of those polarizing figures....some think hes the greatest....some feel he is overrated etc.
for me he falls just short of GOAT.but that's just me....I still think he was an awesome performer.
