Care to tell us the reason why? Well, everyday I have to watch my little sister while my parents are at work. And then when my mom gets home at 4ish, that would be the time I could go to work if I did have a job, and then lets say I work until what ever is the normal time for someone to get out of work, I wouldn't have a ride home because my mom wants my sister in bed at 8 or 830. And that would be if I didn't have to do anything after my mom gets home from work, lets say it's a day I have to mow the lawn (twice a week), My mom gets home at 4, I mow the lawn, it would take me anywhere from a hour to a hour and a half, that makes it 5 to 530ish, then a shower because I wouldn't go to work drenched with sweat, that makes it 6ish, plus drive time to get to where ever I work.

Seriously, if my kid was acting like a self-entitled Dick to me about something that they don't even need, then they wouldn't get it. It's ok to ask for something, but your parents don't owe you a damn thing. So if they say no, accept it. You don't need Twitter, or Skype. I'm younger than you, and I bought my own phone. You can work. Anybody who says otherwise is lazy, and full of it. Unless they physically can't work.
Just get a flip phone. It's all you need, and more than you deserve.

You have plenty of time to work. I'm seeing at least 4-5 hours a day during the week. You didn't even mention weekends. You also didn't mention why you can't mow lawns in your neighborhood. Or walk to the nearby fast food place. Or the local grocery store or any other business. Sent from my GT-N8013 using proboards

If your parents make as much as you make it seem, why not hire a nanny? If driving you places is an issue, get a bike. And I'm sure you don't live in the middle of a forest or desert so I'm sure there's something within walking distance, even.

Dude.......this, here \/ That was my first phone. And I was almost 18. And ONLY got it because my Mom upgraded her line and these were a free bonus, she got 3 of them. Stop acting like a self-entitled dick. Your parents do NOT owe you a phone, especially a $600 iPhone. Kids like you are why I can't stand this generation of kids.

Also, I have no idea how old your sister is, but you could consider asking your parents for something in exchange for watching her. Clearly you've never owned a smart phone or you'd understand just how much they can really cost.

Because I don't see another way of getting home. My neighbors all mow their own lawn, I've asked before, many times and they just say no. I don't have any near by fast food places or grocery stores, I live in a small down about 10 miles away from the city where every things at.

And there is absolutely nothing at all you could do around the house either? I don't buy it. I'm sorry, but you're basically telling me that if I put a gun to your head and told you that you had six months to come up with $1k and you couldn't get it from your parents and you couldn't borrow it and you couldn't sell anything that you would be completely unable to come up with the money? It's ridiculous. I'm sorry, but I don't buy any 16 yr old who says that he can't work unless he's got some sort of physical disability. Borrow the parents car if you have to. Bum a ride with a friend. Ride the bus. I know a guy who has no driver's license and works a job 15 miles or so from where he lives. He manages to get to work. He rides the bus, bums rides, rides his bike partway, etc.... Just saying. If you really wanted to work you could. You just don't want to and are of the mindset that your parents own you expensive toys just because you suck air. The sooner you figure out that's not the case the better you're going to be in life.
