What do you guys think he would have went on to say if his mic wasn't cut off? Would the promo have lasted a while longer or ended right afterwards?

His promo didn't change wrestling. He was simply frustrated and they allowed him to say what us fans and himself felt. That and the fact that the WWE wasted the following months w/ him hurt the promo overall for me. Good promo but I wouldn't put it up their w/ the "Austin 3:16" or Hogan's "Bash at the Beach" promos.

He also pretty much cut the same promo in ROH after he won the ROH Title off of Austin Aries. All they did was change it a bit to fit the WWE.

he wouldn't have said anything else IMO.
he got everything he wanted to say out there....then they "cut the mic" for dramatic effect.everything he said was totally approved backstage by Vinnie and the Billion $$ Boobjob.
I thought it was a great promo..BUT it changed nothing.Punk was still not permitted a clean win over Superjohnny at MITB 11.he was then wasted in promnos whewre he whined more than anything.
although the promo with Mcmahon over the contract was GOLD.
"Jesus Phil....Im eating a crap sandwich out here for ya....."LMFAO at that.

Except while the promo didnt change wrestling it did cement punk's role in the wwe as a main eventer/headliner. Remember r truth was facing cena the month before, punk was penciled in as another guy to keep cena busy til they were ready for the del rio/cena summerslam program. Since punks promo he's been a top guy in the company. That's all that changed from it.

Other than getting Punk more over it did nothing to change wrestling. WWE screwed it shortly after that though. After MIB, I thought he should had stayed off TV until the Rumble, but they needed him back sooner, and the WM main event was already set without him.
I know that most people love him, but he does nothing for me. He doesn't make me watch or spend money to see him. He was interesting for about a month. He just doesn't move the meter for me personally.

Punk said what he was trying to say when he was cut off is that WWE does a ant-bullying campaign, but Vince McMahon is the biggest bully of them all. That's it.
And by the way, as good as it was at the moment, CM Punk's promo didn't change ANYTHING about wrestling. It was just a really good segment. A few weeks later when they turned him full on babyface, every single thing he said in that promo became irrelevant.

It's still one of the top 10 promos of all time imo. It didn't change wrestling because WWE had CM Punk, like all modern day stars, fall in line with the status quo. However, I think it was comfortably the best promo we have seen in the last decade, at least for me. While it may not have had the impact of the KOTR promo from Austin, it was more entertaining for me. Austin was fortunate enough to go on and change the industry 6-12 months later. I wasn't on the internet at the time, but I don't remember that moment being anywhere near as entertaining as the Punk moment, which admittedly could have been my ages at the time of both moments. That Austin moment was made famous in retrospect though and because he dropped the catchphrase that would be a staple of his character through the height of his popularity. In a vacuum, I'll take that Punk promo over pretty much any promo Austin's ever cut in WWE. Austin did have a similar promo in ECW though, so that correlation is interesting to me. I just think Punk's body of promo work, is better than Austin's. That isn't a knock against Austin, and Punk's work wasn't in the spotlight like Austin's since so much came on Smackdown in 2009-2010, but I think Punk is just the better talker. Arguing over the two of the greatest talkers ever, but when push comes to shove, I put Punk on Foley, Raven and Piper's level.
To the point though, I wouldn't change a single thing about Punk's promo. It was perfect, because he was cutoff. That will likely end up being the pinnacle talking moment of his career.

It didn't take Austin 6-12 months after his "3:16" promo to change wrestling. It was almost instantly. Before the KOTR PPV the fans could give two craps about the "Ringmaster" because of the terrible character but the Raw after KOTR literally every fan had either an Austin shirt or sign. He was an overnight success.
Personally I don't think Punk's promo skills are super great. While to me Austin was top notch on the mic and in the ring, Punk's promos have never wowed me. Yeah his "unscripted" promo was a shock because it was so random but I feel that he still has that "indy" wrestler vibe to him. His character has specifically been tailored to satisfy the IWC while Austin appealed to everyone, general fans and the supposed "smark" fans (I hate that term). And while Austin's promo led to him becoming the #1 guy in the company, Punk's promo simply made him the new #2 guy behind Cena for a bit. We've seen tons of guys play the #2 role to Cena since 2005 and Punk simply held that role for 2012.
I think the problem I have with Punk's promos are that they are not unscripted at all. The WWE approves what he says while Austin's "3:16" promo was literally on the fly. They told Austin at the last second that he was winning the KOTR and after the match came up w/ the promo based on Robert's new "religious" character. That and the fact that the WWE botch Punk's booking during the following months. Not sure why fans still call 2011 the "Summer of Punk" when it was a pretty lackluster summer for him. He never got a clean win over Cena, dropped the title at Summerslam to ADR, lost to HHH, Miz/R-Truth, and Alberto inside HIAC during the following months and basically went against everything his character was against in his first big promo.
And this is coming from a fan of Punk.

It elevated his career more than it did change wrestling.

Hulk Hogan's BATB promo changed the future of wrestling.
Steve Austin's "3:16" promo changed the future of wrestling.
Nothing really happened at a result of the pipe bomb. The talented people are STILL getting burried and they're still pushing talentless behemoths like Ryback. Punk didn't even get a clean win over Johnny as a result.

Good promo, but it didn't change wrestling and it was all a 'work'. Whole thing was staged by the WWE, they knew exactly when they were going to cut the mic and they knew exactly what he was going to say beforehand. C'mon now.
