Hi everyone Question is simple, does Del Rio need Ricardo after he returns from his suspension? I don't think he does because they've together since 2010 and I feel that there is no more that they can do with each other. They had the awesome heel run, the crappy face run and now back to the heel role. I would like to see Del Rio tell Ricardo his services are longer required so Ricardo can become a wrestler without using the El Local name. What do you guys think? - One In Need Of Enlightenment

I thought they were going to do a program with Del Rio and Rosa Mendes but it got dropped.
It would be something fresh and different to put her with him.

Ricardo needs Del Rio, not otherwise. Without Del Rio, Ricardo is useless.

Ricardo is the only interesting thing about Del Rio's act. Unless Del Rio improves, then yes, he needs Ricardo.

Have Del Rio beat him down when he comes back. Then put him under a different mask and character. Then eventually have him win the intercontinental title and have him start using the armbar and have Del Rio take acception to it. Have Del Rio win the IC from him and bring in a lawyer to get his return match taken out. Have him then say you want a rematch put the mask on the line. Have him win the title back and then have Del Rio low blow him after he offers a handshake and then when he drops to his knees Del Rio quickly pulls the mask off. I don't see how else they can get him over as a wrestler as Ricardo.

Yes. I've noticed that as soon as Ricardo disappeared, Del Rio went back to getting no reaction like he did when he was last a heel. If they want him to succeed, they needed to keep him as a face, or keep his far more entertaining manager around when he's a heel. Granted, it's not Del Rio's fault that Ricardo had a wellness violation, but still.

I love Del Rio & Ricardo together. What Del Rio needs more than anything is some victories over top stars. Can't have you World champion losing ever week and expect fans to care.

Well I guess I'm in the minority, but I think Del Rio is excellent. The face run was an abortion, but he really is a great heel and has wonderful expression. Ricardo adds to him as a heel manager would add to any heel, but the announcing I could easily do without.

He always seemed to have the crowd behind him in his feud with Show. They made the mistake of putting in a feud with the one guy in the company that everyone was supposed to hate but loved in Dolph Ziggler. Anyone feuding with Dolph at the time would've had a hard time getting over as a face. But I don't mind him one bit. The problem with him being face is that there's no real question as to what type of face he'd have to be. A guy like him has no choice but to fall into the Sheamus/Cena/Edge 2001 (ugh) category of "cheer for me cuz I'm tha good guy!!!" type of face.

You aren't entirely wrong, but he also lost a lot of fans to Swagger, who was a straight up heel who nobody cared about for the last 2 years up until the We The People angle.. Maybe it was because Zeb was so good, I dont know. I think it was because he was a boring, unbelievable face. Either way, he's not Eddie Guerrero (which I'm almost positive is what WWE was going for), and I don't think he could ever be an affective face; even more so than Sheamus, Cena and Edge. at least SOME people got behind them. After the Show feud Del Rio was crickets chirping. Nobody even cared enough to see him lose (until Ziggler). I'm not sure they do now, but at least he's in his element. I am actually a big fan.

Yes, when i see Ricardo doing his intro i always get a chuckle. Del Rio is a heel, i think he sucks as a face and only heels have managers. I think the only exception was Randy and Liz though i could be forgetting others.

Started out a huge mark for Del Rio; but the truth of it is after almost three years of watching closely; he sucks.
The only reaction he ever gets is due to the ring announcer. It should be played out a bit longer but like all things its reaching it's end point.
Not long after Ricardo leaves Alberto, there will be even less appeal to the guy, of which even fewer people will care about him and there will be an even dimmer amount of angles for him.
It's just not working overall for him - not sure why - because he haves the looks, the move set and looks to be a decent worker (sucks on the mic).
I started out loving his character, it reminded me of the 80s type guys I loved to follow; the gimmicky type guys. It just didn't work. It's like WWE tried too hard and botched the booking at the same time with his character. Now that interest for most people in those types of throwback characters is in Fandango, Cesaro, etc. Del Rio will never be over. The only thing over about him was Rodriguez.

Yeah, I think the question is what would Ricardo do without Del Rio? Then again, it is the only thing that really makes Del Rio stand out and his character definitely seems to be missing something with Rodriguez suspended.

Ricardo getting suspended is a blessing in disguise for Del Rio. How long could he keep having him around before it got even more stale?
