You know, I didn't think the whole Anthony Weiner thing could get any funnier. Man, last name Weiner, sending lewd photos....of his last name to women. But boy was I wrong. Apparently it can get funnier. A lot funnier.
Like say for instance, the same man continues sending photos after vowing not to....only to do so under a fake name to avoid attention. And of course, the most obvious and less attention-seeking name possible.....Carlos Danger.
I don't live in New York, but I'm a sucker for a good, hilarious political scandal. So here's to hoping he wins.
Anyone in the area or out of the area have any comments?

If the texts were consensual then I really don't see the problem. I mean it's all between he and his wife. I assume if it wasn't consensual Gloria Allred would have held a thousand press conferences by now.

How is is possible for him to stay in the race when he JUST resigned for the same problem? More importantly, the people find this acceptable? Why would ANY woman vote for this guy.

Honestly, that's one of the things I'd love to know as well. Anyone here from NY and plan on voting for Carlos?

I just don't understand. If it's consensual what's the problem? Oh, he cheated on his wife? Big deal, he's not the first politician to do it. And it should be between he and his wife.

He couldn't be much more of a Weiner than their current mayor.

I imagine most people's issues aren't with the act, but with the kind of person it takes to do that not only once, but multiple times. It's important to people voting, because a candidate is saying his is one kind of person and is "better", but evidence is coming out to the opposite. Beyond that, I don't disagree. It's a personal matter, but one that creates an impression of a person.

It's when the other guy does it that it's terrible. Of course there are people who don't like what guys in their own party do but they are hypocrites as well. Democrats will support Clinton but not Weiner. It's weird how people will support one but not the other.

To be fair, Clinton did a lot more for America as a country than Weiner has done for his state. Also, Clinton was already in his second term and never ran for another position. So it was much easier to compare the affiar and lying to everything else that's accomplished. With Carlos, you are comparing potential events with events that have already happened.
I, again, don't disagree with you. People will always potentially be bias in one way or another.

But it's not a secret that Clinton had affairs before he became President including a sexual harassment lawsuit. The public knew and didn't care until much later. Of course the Republicans that were outraged weren't outraged at Newt's affair.

The issue at hand is that Weiner is attempting to run for public office - again.
Which is basically like publicly applying for a job & a salary paid by our taxes - running for the office, asking the public to trust him and pay him - and we know he's already lied to us.
We already have a hard time trusting politicians - even ones we're not sure about - but this guy? We're sure about him...
He said he had stopped the behavior and he lied - to his wife, and to the public. About something that's really not all that important anyway - but if he's lied about that - do we have reason to believe he'd tell us the truth about something important? Do we think Weiner is the kind of man to get us through another "911" type crisis, if something bad were to happen? Is this the man we want to put in charge?
Nope.

It shouldn't have even been a public matter in the first place. It's not the public's business to know what a person does in their bedroom. The type of people who can handle and get people through a 9/11 type situation don't run for mayor. You think Bloomberg would be at Ground Zero helping find people? I could see Weiner doing it more than I can picture Bloomberg doing it. And if you are going to talk about Giuliani, he's a giant scumbag. He was worse than Weiner as well.

It's an issue of trust, more so than anything. Yes, this was originally a private matter that shouldn't have come up. But at the same time, as a public official, Carlos has to bare responsibility to not put himself in a situation where he can be taken advantage of in the public.
He had a private incident, that he put himself in, go public which resulted in the lost faith in his abilities by the public. This lead to him resigning from his position and promising that this was a thing of the past.
Then, earlier this year, HE (not anyone else in the public) came out and said there might be additional pictures, texts, or incidents. So this is him, once again having put himself into a situation only this time he is the one that came to the public about it, reminding the public of the prior incident.
So he has not only proven that he is a liar (by engaging in the same activity after stating that he was better and no longer participating) but also proven that he is a candidate that attracts negative attention, by doing negative things.
Should it be public knowledge? No, no argument there. But A. It's in the public, so no going back. B. He brought it on himself by engaging in the activity in the first place, then continuing to engage after stating that he had stopped, as well as bringing attention to himself once again on the matter by stating that more could come out.
It's kind of like the kid the comes into the living room, saying "I didn't break that glass", when no one knows the glass was broken or accused the kid of breaking it. He is the one that said this is over and done, only to end up doing the same thing weeks after that statement.
Lesson: Don't run for public office, if you don't want to be more public.

Why is it suddenly acceptable that they can hold public office again when they literally JUST resigned over these same issues? Maybe because he shouldn't have had to resign in the first place? It's not up to the public to punish a guy for cheating on his wife. She should make the decision, does she want to stay with him or leave him? Whatever she chooses is none of our business. Their marriage is theirs not the publics. They should deal with it privately.

It's an issue of trust, more so than anything. The only trust he violated was his wife's. He has no obligation to the public to be faithful to his wife. That obligation is to his wife. He has no obligation to the public to reveal any indiscretions. Again, it's between he and his wife.

Right. But the fact that he lied to his wife, and the public found out about it, which casts doubt that he wouldn't lie to the public. Also, he lied to the public by saying he was better and no longer participating as part of resigning, only to continue doing so afterwards.
Regardless of it being a private matter, it doesn't discount the fact that he told the public he would do one thing, and then did another.

I'd be more apt to support this (or accept it) if he had orignally stated "you know - this is a private matter - please allow myself and my family to handle this privately." Then never said another word about it. But he continues to make public statements about it, and then those public statements turn out to be untrue....
In a country that already has a healthy mistrust for politicians - he made the wrong move. He should either ignore it and keep moving on or just fess up and say he does it... but stop lying about it.

It's his fault for even saying anything to the public, I agree. As Flair Forever said he should have just told everyone that it is a private matter and to leave his family alone. Every politician lies though. This is one of the few times it's ok to lie to the public.
