Hey, I didn't see this posted, but there is sad news today. One of the last remaining munchkins from the 1939 classic film, The Wizard of Oz has passed away. Margaret Pellegrini played a "sleepyhead" and a munchkin villager. She suffered a stroke at her home in Phoenix, AZ. She was 89. With her passing, it leaves only two surviving munchkins. Jerry Maren, 93 and Ruth Duccini, 95. Here's the link from TMZ: www.tmz.com/2013/08/07/wizard-of-oz-munchkin-dies-dead-margaret-pellegrini/R.I.P.

Here's an older video when there were 5 munchkins still alive talking about the Wizard of Oz 70 years later:

I've actually met a few of the last remaining Munchkins several years back. Near where I live, Beech Mountain, North Carolina, there is a closed down theme park called The Land of Oz. The park closed down in the 70's after a fire destroyed the Emerald City, which was the epicenter of the theme park. Dorothy's home, the Witch's and the yellow brick road are all that really remain. And every year, for one weekend in October, they open the park to the public. And that's where I met the Munchkins, however, the coroner is the only one I remember seeing.

Anybody have a spare shoebox laying around? I met some of the midgets at this Hollywood Theater. They were kind of creepy still dressed up in their costumes and being nearly 100 years old!
