Another one for the Parents of Wfigs.

I feel that the lady owner of the coffee shop is nuts. First off you work in retail, so you should always service the customer. If the customer went in, paid, enojoyed food/drink, and in the process made a mess, then that is all part of doing business. The babys made a mess, not on purpose, because they enjoyed what you sold them. And then the Owner goes over to talk trash? What did she expect?

Am I as a customer no longer allowed to get a scone because it will crumble and crumbs will fall to the floor? Should I no longer order a coffee because the coffee will dirty a cup?

I really hope that the business owner was just having a bad day in which she snapped. I would hate to think people exist out there that think they are holyer than thou just cause they dont have children, or cause they clean up after themselves.

It's her business. She should be allowed to choose who she wants as customers.

But if she out righted banned them I'd bet those parents would throw a fit.

If there are extremely messy people she should have the right to kick them out.

And it's not like she knew the name of the woman and her kids and publicized it and scolded them for it. She just took a picture and posted it.

Whatever the business owner deems extremely messy. Obviously she thought it was extremely messy.

If the organizers want to kick people out of their festival or whatever because they feel the person is being messy then that's up to them.

You can be extremely messy and not do it on purpose.

The woman should not have complained on something like Facebook , just keep between friends or co workers

Sorry Slappy, Milicoln's right here. Sure she has the right to do whatever she wants because it's her business. But she needs to wake up and consider that in the real world, people carry their babies with them and babies make messes. She, as a business owner should consider the type of place she's going to run if she doesn't want a certain type of customer to frequent her place.

She's also just not being practical. What eatery have you ever seen where people don't leave a mess or some sort? I understand that at 'stop and go' places like coffee shops and fast food joints there are no waiters but it's not like the parent left a table full of trash either. This is a mess that anyone could have and probably HAD left before. But because kids made that mess it's now intolerable? I'm sure she's never had to clean up a spilled coffee or crumby doughnut that that someone's dropped without noticing.

Bottom line is she was being a jackass to her customers with kids for something that I can almost guarantee has happened in some fashion with full blown adult customers.

Was she being unreasonable to think people don't make messes? Sure. But I don't understand why she can't complain if she wants. Why is the mother taking great offense? The owner didn't name names, the mother was the one that decided to "out" herself as the one behind the mess.

If the owner had posted a credit card receipt along with a picture of the mess then I'd be on the mother's side.

She also said one of the kids kept screaming so I don't think that helped matters.

If she doesn't want them in her business then she can tell them to leave. If she doesn't want kids in her business, it may cost her some customers but it should be her right to say no. Or if she wants to post signs saying if you make a mess you'll be charged extra, she should be allowed to do that too. People will cry foul either way.

I saw the picture, it doesnt look like that big of a mess. The issue here was the woman (owner) didnt want to have to sweep the floor.

Has anyone here ever gotten a scone at a coffee shop? If you have then you would know they crumble very easily. Just like when you eat a turnover, only turnovers leave flakey bits. Scones however leave chunky cookie like crumbs.

I clicked on the link provided by the news station, which took me to the stations facebook. What made me smile was that on the picture the woman (mom) self identified and explained.







Wow you said so much, and so little made sense.

Babys are tiny human beings, little bundles of joy. They are not an electronic device which you can mute when you are displeased with the sounds they make. While I agree that if a baby is crying then try to comfort your baby, I dont agree with you wanting them to leave.

You were a baby once, you prob cryed and screamed more than once.

A hotel, as is with my job, as is with the coffee shop, are businesses. You want the money. SO you take everything that goes with it. That includes the messy parts. The woman took money, so expect to clean up after customers. A hotel takes money, so expect people to leave a room undone.

I love my job and I love my money so I dont mind getting a little dirty.

I only mentioned those things to make a point as to how silly that woman business owner is being.


I'll tell you this much. She will lose customers because of this. I know if I lived in that area, unless she had fantastic coffee, I wouldnt return as a customer.

I don't understand why you can't understand that she should be allowed to run her business as she sees fit.

If she doesn't want messy people around then she shouldn't have to have messy people in her business. I know you keep saying that messes will happen but if she doesn't want them then she should have the right to kick them out if she wants or to charge them a cleaning fee or both. If she doesn't want screaming, crying kids, again, she should be allowed to tell the parents to quiet down the kid(s) or leave.

She may be silly but it's her business. Her business, her rules. You should not have a say in how she runs her business. If she wants to make all these rules that make everyone not go there then that's her prerogative.
